Sidetalkers - cute or annoying?

So, when you meet someone who for some reasons chews their words out the right or left hand side of their mouth, what's your assessment of this affliction?

Take Alicia Silverstone, for example. In some ways it's cute. Or does it make you want to put her head in a clamp until it gets fixed.

Or are you a sidetalker? Do people take the piss out of your impediment?

    I'll be your Jeremy Kyle.

I'm going to sit in the center of this debate.

It can really go either way. On some itís cute, on others itís deeply offensive.

We have this rather witch-like woman working here who combines side talking with a slightly nasal Northern Irish accent and the combination boils my blood.

However, I have to admit my wife does it ever so slightly and I find it adorable.

    I would tend to agree.

    Intentional pun?

Not really, seeing as I can't see a pun there.

Always reminds me of David Brent, which is not a good association unless you are Ricky Gervais.
  • Deleted user 23 November 2009 16:37:17
Who else does it, besides Alicia Silverstone?

Peter from Heroes? Stallone? Apparently the former is due to dead nerves on one side of his face.

I thought it was the name for that stupid "talking into a ridiculous part of a mobile" thing they do on the apprentice.

I think he has Bell's Palsy which is actually very commonly the reason why people do it.

George Clooney has a mild case of it as well, and he sidetalks.

By brother had it for a bit, was extremely scary at the time, but luckily he recovered.

I do it, though I try not to.

Maybe I should smoke cigars like George Peppard.

Katie Holmes is a classic case of sidetalking...

Oh now that is fucking annoying, it actually makes me want to shout at the TV.

No, it's when people talk out of the side of their mouth. Just the left or right side, which means the mouth is off center.

    Like Dick Cheney.

    glol!

Normally I'd tend to say sidetalking is distracting at best and enfuriating at worst, but that chick from Twilight has it so I guess it can be cute. And Katie Holmes is kind of annoying generally but I don't think I ever paid any attention to it, so it doesn't necessarily stick out like a horrible facial deformity.
Oh and I've never actually seen a real sidetalker in my life. Well there was this one American granny but I'd say it added to her grannyness and as such was a positive characteristic.
So yeah, I'm sitting on the fence on this one. And talking forwards
