Registered 17 years agoThey have a lot to make up, after FC2. Could and should have been a really good game, however as most of us know it was not, oh and it had the mother of all bugs. I lost 45 hours on it! -
I think the developer was stung by the criticism Far Cry 2 received tbh so I'm sure they will make sure stuff like super-vision enemies and respawning guard posts are less of a problem... -

Registered 17 years agoThings to make FC 3 FUN and not a chore.
1. If guns are going to jam, at least let the oppositions do like wise.
2. Respawning guard posts, at least let this be over a 24 (in game) time cycle.
3. Make the map smaller, or even better give us a lot more vehicles, more bus depots, maybe a 1 man chopper
4. If in Africa more wild life
5. As N@ states, no more super vision snipers that can see you no matter how dark and how well you are camouflaged in the world.
I really wanted to like FC2, and did have some fun with it but the game fought you all the way -
Hopefully AC2's success will wake them up a bit. -

Registered 13 years agoIs it wrong that despite hating FC2, I find myself interested in this game?
Here's what I'd like to see fixed:
1. Guards sucking up 20 bullets despite only wearing a t-shirt.
2. The respawning guard posts (obviously).
3. People randomly attacking you for no reason. Why did everyone in a car find you a target? Were they all big racialists or something?
4. The jumping from one end of the map to another. Just because it's open world doesn't mean they have to send you all over the place for a mission. Why not concentrate it on an area before sending you further about.
5. The lack of checkpoints. There was nothing more annoying than travelling half the map and getting killed just before you reached the target area which would mean a trip back to the last safe house. -

Registered 15 years agoLoved FC2, but agree with all of the above comments. Be fantastic as DUFFMANS noted to be wading through a river and then get taken out by a croc! More weapons as well. -

Registered 17 years agoI really enjoyed FC2 and played solidly from start to finish. I really liked the atmosphere and the environment. I came to the conclusion that all the characters in the game are assholes only looking out for themselves including yourself.
Guard posts stopped being a problem once I armed myself with the 4 round grenade launcher and then upgraded the jeep with a Mark 19.
My best experience in the game was sneaking into a camp based on raised platforms over a swamp. I fired a single shot killing the target and then sneaked back out. -

Registered 17 years agoInteresting, didn't know a sequel was coming. Far Cry 2 was disappointing, but it was a close thing. Be nice to think they took the criticism on board. -
I'd be happy with the same visual quality, it seemed to run pretty well on unspectacular systems too. It's just nailing down a few game mechanics could make this a no.1 game. -
Far Cry 2 was infinitely more interesting a game than any number of far more critically acclaimed titles in the past three or so years. Despite its flaws, it also played very well - most of the time. The reaction to it has been brutally unfair, imo. -

Registered 16 years agoHow could anyone love far cry 2? it was a clusterfuck of stupid design decisions that Overpowered what could of been a great game. -
Because some of us can actually work out how to deal with these design decisions and not drop the game at the merest hint of annoyance? That, coupled with the tone and outlook of the game. -

Registered 16 years agoMerest hint? Every part of that game annoyed me in some way, the tone and outlook I quite liked, except for the fact that apparently the plains of africa have cliffs everywhere.
Guns that instantly go rusty if you pick up the AI's, the checkpoints respawning, the 2 kinds of mission endlessly repeated, the fact that every mission was deliberately designed to take you across the entire map then take you the back the other way to pad out the game, the perfect vision snipers, the bullet proof tshirt wielding enemies. I could go on but most people already know the annoyances I just want to get it off my chest. -

Registered 17 years agoThe only thing that annoyed me about FC2 was the respawning checkpoints, and then it was only the speed at which it happened. -

Registered 16 years agoNow that I've got that off my chest I will add this I can see a great game in there, however the devs for whatever reason chose to release it without fixing the numerous and obvious flaws in the game. It's sad really I tried to like Far Cry 2 but the only things I liked about it was the first hour before you realise your going to be doing exactly the same missions for 95% of the game and the final mission when it became a normal shooter and suddenly became fun. -

Registered 16 years agoIndeed it could of, however I don't think it should be up to modders to turn games into what they should of been. Mods should be there to offer something different to the standard game not turn the original game into what it should of been. -

Registered 13 years agoPersonally, i really rather liked FC2 - there were some nasty glitches/bugs and the near instantly re-spawned guard points were really annoying, but i actually really liked the overall feel. Mind you, i did somehow fluke avoiding the critical game-stopping one. Which maybe means i enjoyed it more than a lot of others who got prevented from completing it.
Multiplayer was quite enjoyable, except for host quitting to stop you getting exp, and the odd lobby of team stacking high ranks on one side or host kicking good players on the opposing team.
I will look out for updates on FC3 with interest. -
I loved it, the negatives that everyone complain about like the mercenaries being able to see you from miles away just added to the suspense for me. With a good big TV and decent surround sound (headphones) I found it very fun dealing with them. Can not wait for the new one. -

Registered 14 years agoThe multi-player was really bland in the last one, with the big open spaces and vehicles they should have made it feel more like Halo than Call of duty. -

100% agree with this.

No. No, no, no, no. No.
One of the best things about the game was the map and the size of it. Just because you couldn't be arsed and just wanted a more precise fast travel feature so you can get to shooting stuff 0.01 seconds after the mission has been handed out, doesn't mean it was bad game design.
Planning routes and approaches, and travelling through jungle and savanna was what gave the game it's unique feel of being in Africa. Take that away, and it just wouldn't have the same feel.
The game had it's problems which cut it short from being amazing, but tbh honest it sounds like you are less after a sequel, and more after another game altogether. -

Registered 13 years agoDon't shrink the map, i had a great time trying to ninja about and sneak up on guard posts. They were crack-shots from miles away once you let them know you were there mind.
I quite enjoyed pootling about in a jeep or even on foot if your car got destroyed and then getting side-tracked to go off diamond hunting etc when the signal increased. -

Registered 16 years agoThe map was big and that was nice but they had only really had 2 kinds of missions to fill it with, now if your going to make a big map you need to fill it with interesting and varied things to do or it becomes a chore to do the missions. There is no point making a big map if you don't fill it with anything interesting. -

Has any game ever had this? It'd be atmospheric if done right. Could make it so depending on the situation they hide and try to fix it, call their buddies to cover, run away, come at you with a pistol or knife etc. -
In Perfect Dark enemies guns would jam which would prove a godsend on perfect agent if one caught you by surprise. FC2 was a horrible game in so many ways but mainly shooting people was actually a chore. -

Yeah, there's a game called Far Cry 2 that has this
