I've finally got my Thrustmaster T150 and set it up on my Wheel Stand Pro (I bought the conversion parts from them for this wheel). Got to say I'm very happy with it. I was worried as a bit of a budget wheel I'd be disappointed, but it's exceeded my expectations. The force of the force feedback wheel is amazing, I can not believe how strong it is! It's also very smooth and I can't feel much of the 'cog' effect some others talk about with other wheels. It also has subtle feedback, for example in F1 it rumbles when at top speed or jolts a bit if I've got a damaged wing. It makes you feel like the car is on the edge. It doesn't feel as budget as I thought it would, the 'grips' on the wheel feel pretty nice to hold, the paddle shifts have a very solid feel and 'click' to them. The rest of the buttons are 'fine' but some are a little small. They are also a bit too far away from my thumb, which in a game like F1 where I need to change settings and talk to the engineer is a bit of an issue. I mean it's a big bit of black plastic, so it's not exactly modern art, but it's no where near as budget feeling as I was expecting. The pedals are the weakness of the wheel apparently, but they do a pretty good job and were not as bad as I was expecting. The brake also does have progressive resistance which I wasn't expecting at all. It's certainly not a racing brake, but it does help with feeling how far you've depressed the brake. It's also super quiet, I couldn't hear it at all over the game or when I was in menus. If you're a fairly casual player who wants a wheel, this really is perfect. In fact if you're going to spend £200, I'd say spend £110 on this and get a Wheel Stand Pro with the rest of the money. The stand is great and really makes a massive difference as well. |

Registered 13 years agoI spent a silly amount of time agonising between the G29 and the T300 (while having in the back of my mind that with my limited gaming time, the cheaper and perfectly good T150 was probably the most sensible option).
In the end there were a couple of things about the G29 that bothered me enough that I ended up going for the T300: the G29 has a FFB deadzone that I found very distracting - you're still in control but the wheel has no resistance whatsoever when it's centred. And the noise the vibration motor makes when you go off road or crash made it seem unsuitable for late-night gaming - it's fucking loud.
What really struck me about the T300 was how strong the FFB is, especially in Assetto Corsa. The T300 at 40% FFB was still way harder work than the G29 at 70%. Overall the wheel is just that bit nicer, and although the G29's pedals *are* unquestionably better, the T300's (which are basically the same as the T150's) didn't feel any worse in actual usage.
Now I need to save up for the Wheel Stand Pro of course. -

Registered 6 years agoHeh I knew you'd crumble. The wheel stand pro is great, makes the whole process a lot easier. The T3PA pedals are very nice as well.... -

Registered 13 years agoD'oh. To complicate matters, the T300 was slightly damaged in transit (still worked though) so I'm still waiting for the replacement.
Surely the T3PA pedals are a bridge too far. Can't see me using the clutch with paddle shifters (and I'm certainly not buying the separate shifter for over £100) so £75 for a bit of brake progression seems kerrazy. -

Registered 6 years ago2 weeks back you would have thought paying 250 quid for a toy steering wheel was kerrazy. This is how it starts. -

Registered 13 years agoArgh, this is part of the problem. Internet Randomer 1 and Internet Randomer 2 have got the pedals, so that makes it less irresponsible for me to get them.
No. Wheel stand next. -

Registered 6 years agoThe stand should definitely be the priority.
They recently made this shifter extension for it which is playing on my mind a bit

Registered 14 years agoI don't have a stand yet. I am, however, tempted to get a second-hand drivers seat, and build some sort of setup to put that, my HOTAS and my wheel onto. Hopefully, that'd be cheaper and fit better in my space than a pre-made setup. Whether I'm actually capable of this is another story. -
I have the G27 which is an older version of the G29 that came up in an Amazon sale for £140 with the pedals. Then I added the stand. When it's all set up properly it's great.
I once paid £40 in Game for a PlayStation analogue controller. The wheel is definitely worth it if you like driving games. Even something like Euro truck simulator is improved with the wheel although if you've got the full truck gearbox those changes are a pain in the arse. -
I prefer the round ones and I like them phat -

G29 with gear stick down to £130 again. That's an amazing deal for anyone looking. -
