I believe it is, I read it a few years ago...Cats have the same behaviour... -

@ronuds:
Because dogs are evolutionary hardwired to flatten the grass before lying down...Even in absence of grass...
Is that actually true?
Who knows. All evolutionary explanations for behaviour, animal or human are 'just so' stories ... like How did the Leopard get his spots or How did the camel get his hump etc.
In other words, we can't go back millions of years to see why the behaviours were useful and hence naturally selected. -

Fake tan? -
Shit. Got an interview up north, a three hour journey. There are no buses (all booked up for some reason), but I've found train tickets. One problem though, I can get there fine but there is a space of 3 1/2 hours between trains getting back so I can either book a train that leaves 5 minutes after my interview is expected to end - which means if it overruns in the slightest I'm fucked (kinda hope it does considering it takes three hours to get there!) or I book the next train which involves bing stranded in an empty town for three and a half hours afterwards. Really not sure what I should do. Think I'll google some nearby pubs but even then I don't think I'm up for sitting by myself for that long!
Edit: can't even blame my phone for the shit spelling this time -

Have you not seen Deliverance? -
Not live there but if I had a car it would be more manageable. It is only a short placement anyway so it will only be two/three or so weeks of tortuous commuting on the train. (That's if I actually got it). Decided to look for nearby cinemas, just enough time to see a film on my bill. -

Incorrect iirc. They sweat via their tongue too. -

i'd love the irony if that's the only film on in the local cinema.

Mowgli, you also could possibly take a walk around the town centre and try to see if you like the look of it for living and working there, no?
It's what I'd do, then you can have a pint and relax and watch the world go about it's business for a bit.
Edit: I worry about Mowgli's lack of gumption sometimes. -

Registered 13 years agoThey lose a lot of heat via their tongue by panting. I assume that also loses moisture too, so it could possibly be described a bit like sweating. -

Not really sure what the hell 'lack of gumption' has to do with it. I already said what I was going to do. It was just another random musing in the random musing thread.

@local, don't have a licence. Haven't needed to until now as I live in the city centre. But it is something I plan to remedy this summer.
