On the subject of Amazon, I recently ordered some headphones and was surprised by a £2 app store voucher popping up in my inbox, which I used to buy 2/3 of Gemini Rue. I think the offer is if you spend over a tenner...

Heroes of Loot £1.58 (£1.63 Amazon)

I can't stop playing it. It's basically Gauntlet with an auto-aim/fire mechanic. Controls surprisingly well, random dungeons, 4 character classes, auto levelling system. Very repetitive, but scratches an itch. Listen out for the Zimmer-esque soundtrack.

    8/10

Don't know if these will be of interest, whole load of Lego games which are free and, apparently, not an IAP in sight...

EDIT: OK, EG is doing something screwy with the link by adding/converting extra text to the URL that it links to, if you copy and paste the link it should work.

Anyone recommend a WW2 turn based game with multiplayer? I see that 1941 is similar to Axis and Allies. Anyone play it. There are a few others floating about too.

What about the European War games? They look altight but have IAPs and I'd rather just pay up front for something.

    Microsoft Excel (free)

Big fan of Excel, pretty much my staple PC app day-to-day, so this is a great "lite" version. Love the interface, love the syncing with OneDrive/Dropbox etc.. haven't missed any features yet so give it a try. If you have a Office 365 sub it unlocks other stuff.

Look out the other apps in the suite, Outlook, Word etc..

    10/10 (so far)

As an avid board game, the first app I ever purchase (a few years back now ) was Border Siege, then called DRisk.

It offers the Risk experience with every imaginable rules modification and over 50 different maps. It's one of the first apps I install when I change devices.

Really useful, and free (no ads either) do-not-disturb app - individual setup for things like night, meetings, car, etc. The same whitelist can be setup across all profiles. DND

I'm after an alternative photo gallery app, my only specific requirement is that when I look at the gallery it puts them in dated folders, eg a folder for last week, last month etc as my stock one obviously doesn't have this. Not fussed for any other things just that really. Well free and ad free would be good too!!! I dare say there are some that do this but I don't really want to have to find one by trial and error. Any suggestions?

Trying to get my head round the 'Gravity Screen App' anyone used it? It's supposed to be very good but am not sure where to start with it really.

    Museo del Prado.

This is the app for an art museum in Spain. Some of the more famous paintungs which have been photographed in very high definition are locked behind in app purchases but a lot of them are not. The quality is pretty good too and you can download the free painting for offline access.

    Udacity

This app is an massively open online course (MOOC) app. It's focused mainly on computer science, especially programming languages. There are regular quizzes and exercises to reinforce the video lectures. Codecademy is better but they don't have an Android app. The Intro to Computer Science course is a very good beginner's guide to Python and general computer science jargon and concepts.

I'm currently playing Big Hero 6: Bot Fight. If you've watched the movie, you'll love it. It's a match 3 game though, like Puzzle and Dragons.
