Registered 11 years agoNot sure if it's already been mentioned on here but I'm finding Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes to be great fun! In it you build up a team of Star Wars characters and take a group of 5 of them to turn based battles. Each character has different abilities and stats and can be upgraded in many ways. There's xp to increase the characters level which boosts your characters stats, gear which does the same but when you've filled all the gear slots give an extra boost to stats and can unlock extra abilities, ability gear which upgrades their abilities and character shards that can be used to promote them up a 7-star ranking system which improves them quite drastically in every area.
There's a Light-Side Campaign where you can only choose light-side characters to fight against the dark-side, there's a Dark-Side campaign which is the opposite and there's a Squad-Battle campaign which allows both you and the enemy to have whatever character you want. There's also Arena matches which pits your team against that of another player's but is controlled by the AI, there are Events and Challenges which change each day and usually allow you to get quite a bit of good stuff and there's "Galactic War" which works like Arena but in a campaign form and where damage to your characters stays from one battle to the next and is only reset once you reset the Galactic War campaign which you can do once a day. There are also a few other modes I've not unlocked yet.
There are a few different areas for shipments which offer different sorts of items for different currencies, for example, playing arena matches gets you some form of Arena credit which you can use to buy Character Shards which are used to unlock/ promote characters. There are "Bronzium" cards which you can get 1 for free every 20 minutes and can give credit, items, character shards or even whole characters. Then there are "Chromium" cards which are bought with crystals (the premium currency that can also be gained by other means) which gift a lot of character shards or new characters.
It's a free to play game but the only times you play against another player's team is in Arena, where you choose your opponent and can only be matched against player's with a similarly strong team (every team gets a power rating based on the strength of it's characters), and Galactic War, where it seems to choose teams that match a certain requirement, so you never feel as though you're doing worse than anyone else because you've not put any money in to it.
The negative part is that you get new characters too slowly. You earn crystals as you play and there are daily challenges which reward the most (it takes about 30-45 minutes to complete all the daily challenges) but I only get enough crystals to get a new Chromium card roughly every 5 - 6 days and even then you're not guaranteed a new character. Some of the campaign missions have a chance to drop a character shard which is the only way you can specifically aim for a specific character, but this is a long process that can take weeks and even months for some characters, though there are Sim Tickets you can use to instantly complete a mission you've already 3-starred (completed without losing a character). After watching TFA (on the 18th December) I decided to try and unlock Rey and, after playing nearly every day since, I have 32 of the required 80 shards to unlock her. However, if I progress further through some of the campaigns I may unlock extra chapters which reward her shards which would double my efforts. It's also worth noting that part of the reason for attempting to get Rey is that it completes 1 Daily Challenge and helps with another so it serves a dual purpose.
Once you have 5 light and 5 dark-side characters it's not much of a problem though as you can just focus on those characters until you get new ones.
Tl;dr - Try Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes if you like Star Wars and/ or turn based battles. It's a fairly decent example of f2p done right. -

Registered 16 years agoPlaying Fallout Shelter on my 10" N9106 phablet and came across an issue where it says update and there is no where to click or remove the screen. Tried it on my android box and there is a 'claim' button at the bottom but doesn't appear on the phablet which basically prevents you from using the game any longer. Amazing that Bethedsa can bring so many bugs to an Android game. I looked at the known list of bugs for this game which is super long and my bug isn't even in it.
What a great game though if it wasn't for the bugs.
Definitely recommended if you have something that runs it without problems.
This is my phablet

Maybe its the 1024x600 resolution that is an issue, not that common a resolution. I might add it runs most android games brilliantly but sadly not this one. -

Registered 7 years agoAlto's Adventure is out for Android. Supposed to be good, according to reviewers.
Seems to be free too.
EDIT: It's actually... a skiing game? Meh.

How are the controls on a phone? Looking at some videos it seems to require some quick reflexes and precise input.

Neither of which usually work for me on a phone. But then again I got really good at sword of Xolan -

Registered 16 years agoThe controls are passable on my One Plus One. It's only three inputs so it's possible to play fairly well on the touchscreen.
Of course proper controls would be better but as a two minute phone game its one of the best. -

Registered 8 years agoI'm looking for a password manager for my android devices. Don't mind paying for decent security /features.
Can anyone recommend one out of the millions on the play store? -

Registered 18 years agoIf day 1password or dashlane.
Friends at work have 1password and the other is recommended by the play store so feels safe. -

Registered 8 years ago@Tonka Cheers I did see dashlane in the store, but it seemed to have mixed reviews.
I'll take a look at 1password as well. -
I've always used Keepass, KeepassDroid and Google Drive - I like having my encrypted password database myself and not sat on a server somewhere (though I guess it's sat on Google's servers, but it is encrypted). -

Registered 15 years agoJust a heads up, Star Wars KOTOR is free on Amazon Underground (probably has been for a while) but nearly £8 on Google! Not played it so can't vouch, needs a lot of space mind. -
Anyone else playing Greedy Cave ? -

Registered 7 years ago@Mola_Ram It's rather an odd system. All enemies are stationary until you enter their tile. Then you start exchanging blows with them, sort of automatically. Not very roguelike-ish if you ask me.
Still a fun little game.

Yeah, being turn-based is a pretty big element of a roguelike for me. But I might give it a go anyway, as it could still be fun!
