There's a direct converter from the micro 4/3s mount to M.
I stand corrected. I'm curious if that would be one adaptor (micro 4/3rds to M) or two (micro 4/3rds to 4/3rds to M)? [edit: just looked into it and it is the former, and the M adaptors don't work with other mounts because of the short throw, this is quite an advantage for micro 4/3rds!]
Also, would those lenses autofocus on a Pen?
I was mainly talking about the choice of the modern autofocus (usually zoom) lenses that you'd be more likely to start out on. Manual focus primes are great quality and great value, but they aren't ideal for everybody.
These lenses do not autofocus at all, as kalel said. But then you are getting some of the best lenses ever made! ;D -
Where's wobbly-bob gone? I was well up for a public stoning.

What you apologising about? Confused!
You once said that bokeh was a word uttered by people who wanted to sound like they knew what they were talking about..gif)

Yes, indeed it is. But shiny!
Yeah, £750 with two lenses and the optical viewfinder. That's good value considering this is pretty top end stuff. -

I'm looking at getting a DSLR, specifically the Olympus e-450 which is Micro Four Thirds so a nice size but also seems to offer the same functionality as a standard entry level slr. Pop the pancake lens on it and you have a really compact, fully featured camera. Anyone have any experience with Olympus e sereis cameras?
FYI, the e-450 is 4/3rds, not micro 4/3rds, though it's still very small for an SLR. I'm not a massive fan of Olympus lenses personally, but there's no doubting they make a good camera body, especially towards the lower end.
Edit: Not four thirty-fourths -

Can you import cameras cheaper? Anyone know anywhere? -
Hard to import and avoid duty and VAT; you have to go and buy it yourself in person and bring it back. If you can do that, go to Hong Kong or New York. Tokyo also has some fantastic second-hand camera equipment markets in Shinjuku. -
There was a time when importing from Korea was worthwhile, but not so much with the current exchange rate. -
Plus imports almost always get caught these days and have tax applied, rendering almost devoid any savings you might have made - in my experience, anyway. Maybe I'm just perpetually unlucky when it comes to camera gear imports... -

Registered 16 years agosome ebay shops guarantee import tax free. If you do get charged they refund it. Digitalrev for example. Used them many times, the one time I was charged duty, they refunded it after I sent them the invoice. -

Oh yeah I did that once on something, that was cool. I always kept an eye out for the same deal on other things but it's only on certain items. I had a look at their 'shop' outwith eBay where you have to pay a certain amount extra to cover all the tax that you would have to pay were you to import from their eBay shop and get stung, thereby saving you the hassle, worked out cheaper buying in the UK often.

But if you can get the 'no tax guaranteed' from them on an item you want, it's great, definitely! -

Way too many posts to answer to but I'll be quick and try my best. ( see point one )
To the guy or guys that say they can get a good shot hand holding an SLR at night... Errm.
OK, the other points real quick: An SLR user is assumed to know what they are doing and that you want full control over your images. These cameras are not set up to adjust your shots for you so if you don't know what you are doing you will get a better shot with a P&S camera because the onboard chip will correct the vibrance and sharpen. SO, to get the best out of the camera you have to post process your shots.
I'm really not talking bollocks, if anybody is at all intersted you can do a bit of research or go onto a decent photography forum and ask. I'm really not intersted in a slanging match with hostile idoits/trolls because they are safe behind their monitors.

Registered 16 years ago@wobbly_Bob I'll see your can't get a good shot handholding an SLR at night and raise you I can get a BETTER shot hand holding my SLR than my compact.
I'm also pretty sure that a JPEG from a dSLR will have the same kind of in camera processing as a JPEG from a compact. E.g. picture styles on Canons .. they change both vibrancy and sharpness (your two examples of what a P&S does) -

Registered 17 years agoHmm, who to believe... who to believe; MrEd, Deem and Otto, or Wobblybob... I just don't know. Three men who consistently take excellent photos and post them in the various photo related threads, at least two of whom do it in a professional capacity from time to time, often volunteering sound advice on the subject... or 'wobbly' Bob. Hmmm. TOUGH ONE
