    Toy cameras are normally associated with cheap n crappy film cameras. The idea is to get back to basics and it be just about the image not about any fancy stuff. The idea is it makes us better photographers and plus half the fun is the imperfections you get, for example an off colour scale and vigetting - you never know quite what you are going to get. I don't see why though that the same ideals can't be applied to digital cameras like those little key ring cameras, mobile phone cams ( although some can be really good ) or just really weird cheap compacts. So what do you think? How would you define a digital toy camera? How many megapixels, cost, and so on? Or would you say to be a film camera to be a toy camera and produce toy camera shots?

    I once got a shot of the sunset with my mobile phone camera (VGA!) that I was vaguely pleased with. It's all about the colour.

    The iPhone is a toy camera, or can copy the effects of genuine film toy cameras. But anything digital is cheating

    There's a difference between lomo shots and cheap vga cmos shots.
    But if you're going to build a cheap digital camera, like the lomo, give it a wide angle lens.

    @Murray - yeah me too.

    @smoothpete - I have an Android Pulse which has a really very crappy camera so in my book it makes it ideal toy cam. I have a program on it that copys toy cams and even better you can set it up to randomly do funky stuff like at random funky stuff. I really like it, but is it really a toy cam? I would say yes because the camera is crappy to start off with and I'm not actually tweaking my shots - it's all random shit. What do you think?

    BTW you can see a shot I took with it toy cam
