Silva's revenge was mostly about having her fall from grace before publicly killing her. I agree the plan he eventually decided upon was pretty ludicrous (get captured, get put in holding cell, wait for Q to plug in computer to internal network, get released, overpower single guard and escape into the tunnels, slowly meander to the place where M's having her hearing about the leaked spy debacle and shoot her just as she's reading a poem) but it's Bond. It's always been like that. Even Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace had utterly ludicrous moments like that - the poker game was so hilariously unrealistic it hurt. -

Registered 8 years agoI found this mildly entertaining at best in the cinema. Second viewing last night on Blu presented diminishing returns. GF loves it, I remain completely nonplussed by its appeal. Fiennes was good, I would like to see a movie with his M front and centre. -

Registered 16 years agoDon't get to the cinema much and watched this for the first time last night on BlueRay. It looks and sounds amazing and personally I think it's probably my favourite Bond. I love the 007/M storyline and the subtle winks to previous Bonds with the Aston etc and Bardem's quite possibly the best Bond baddie I've seen.
I hated QOS but loved Casino Royale and I'd put this just above CR.
9/10 for me -

Barden for me while good was a total rip off of Walken's baddie in View to a kill.
CR is so much better than the latest Daniel Craig's 007 -

I was thinking of Walken when I first clocked Barden and I do see what you mean. Perhaps over time my opinion will change but for now I think Walken was a little more OTT.

Prefer opening sequence to CR though.

Just watched this last night. Is this the first mission Bond has failed?...oh wait didn't he totally cock up in Casino Royale also?
...hmm 1 out of 3 Craig, you need to buck up your game.
