Anyone seen/heard of these guys?

I've just shoved in the codes for 5 old PC games (I was offered 20p for each at CEX) into their site and they offered me £8.23 for them... That's a lot better!

They do have one odd, nay, worrying, thing though...

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT RULES WHEN SELLING US YOUR CD, DVD OR GAME
The disk must be in the case and it must be the right disk for the case.
The disk must NOT be a copy or pirate disk – we take this issue very seriously and reserve the right to take further action on this matter
The disk must NOT be cracked or have dents, deep scratches or other serious damage to it – light surface scratches are usually accepted
All the original packaging must be present (including the artwork and booklet where relevant)
The packaging must be in good condition. Cases may have light scratches, but booklets and artwork need to be free from tears, stickers and other major blemishes.
Please note that if you do not follow the above criteria we will unfortunately be unable to accept the item. When this happens, we reserve the right to not pay you for the item and also we will also not be able to return the item so please ensure you follow these guidelines.

Still, it's only 5 old PC games... so I've decided to give it a go. I'll let you know how I get along! Good be a good way of clearing out the old crap that no-one wants.

Yeah I think the niche that the T&C covers must be pretty small (surely there aren't people actively doing that - if so why?)

Keep me posted I have oodles of old stuff in cardboard boxes that may of interest

Yup, will do. If it all works out I'm going to thin out the CD and DVD collection of their crap.

How did you get on with this Lutz?

I've got a massive pile of old PC games that I no longer need as I've got them on Steam now, so I was thinking of getting rid of them quickly via this.

The first few I put in came up with suprisingly high amounts, like Jedi Academy for £6. Could be a gold mine if they all come out at a similar price point.

A bit late for your question, but i have ditched some cds using them various months ago and i got what it claimed i'd get for them. All in good nick, and cheque in post a week or two after so feel they're trustworthy enough. Maybe not as good as on ebay if an auction takes off, or they're rare/deleted, but a fair price and there's no paypal/ebay cut to pay.

Anyone used these guys successfully? Got a leaflet through the door from them today but I've heard two very contradicting things about them.

One friend sent off a bunch of old CD's (about 50 in total) and only got paid for about 40 or so because some were apparently 'unsellable', but another mate sent off a load of his old games and DVD's and didn't have a problem with them...

They do seem a little too good to be true though. They are offering me about £80 for 10 fairly dated games which I have no intention of ever playing again.

I used them for a box of 70 odd DVDs we were going to just bin. Can't fault them myself, got the postage label, sent them off, got the cheque within a week.

Some of them were of questionable quality and cleanliness too, I was really surprised they accepted them all.

Their prices paid are generally low, i listed a load of cds on ebay and what didn't sell got sent to them. As i said above, they paid up for all as they were all in good nick with minimal marks or scratches.

You will probably get better prices for private sales though. Check their value on musicmagpie and then try and flog 'em on ebay with a decent reserve price? Very popular or large selling stuff has a very low value in general on their site though. Your items must be worth more somewhere else, or they wouldn't offer that much.

Depends on how much hassle you want to go to. If memory serves me right, you may get a chance to get any items which get a lower price than was originally quoted sent back to you, but i'm afraid i really can't remember for sure.

Hell of a necro here, but has anyone used this mob recently? I'm looking to offload some games and blu rays easily, and obviously CEX is closed.

I'm not fussed about how much they'll offer me (I've already downloaded their app and scanned the items I want to flog), but I am interested in hearing if they're reputable; I don't want to send everything to them only for them to then do a Darth Vader and alter the terms.

Everything is basically 'as new', as I look after my stuff, so I'm hoping I wouldn't have any issues, but I've seen some iffy reviews about that seem to suggest they'll at least try and fuck you over if you're flogging a phone to them.

We got rid of a ton of old CDs last year, it seemed legit and no questions asked. Games and blurays should should be fine. You get fuck all for them, and some of them they won't even take if there is no resale value. The app barcode scanner is pretty good.

I normally sell my phone to them when I get a new one and haven't had a problem.

I’ve sold a few phones and iPads over the years when the condition has been a bit rubbish to avoid hassle selling privately and never had an issue

Cheers, all. Yeah, as I say, I've already scanned the stuff I want to sell with the app, so I know what they say they'll give me. Some stuff I scanned was rejected, so I'll just add that to the pile of DVDs that I was planning to take to the local charity shop.

Scanned in ~35 items with the total sitting at £109, and they're offering more for some of the games than CEX were when I last checked, so I'm happy with that.

I used them once in 2014. The 'best' item - some collectors edition of a DVD - went AWOL between me handing the package to the courier and the money being credited to me :{

I've bought stuff via their Amazon store - vinyls mainly. They're ok. Think I had a few things go awry, but Amazon just fixes it.

This is the kind of thing I'm a bit concerned about, especially as I'll be sending a few dozen items.

Interesting tidbit. I used to work at the head office of music zone, a HMV ripoff. The finance director Steve bought the place from the old owner and proceeded to bury the company within a year. Flash forward about 6 months and I get a call from him saying he's got a little unit and he's buying and flogging music and films again and asked if I wanted to be one of the first ones in the new business. I kindly declined as I saw how shit he was at the last place and thought it would be stupid to even bother. That new company was music magpie.

Selling to them IME is great, I've never had a problem, used them a few times. Buying from them is a toss up between getting something in OK condition or a scratched up nasty pube filled piece of shit.

I've used them a few times. I've had a lot of problems with their couriers not actually collecting the packages I've left out but once they've managed that it's all been fine.

Sold a few games to them and attempted to sell my old phone.

Games always went through fine, other than one courier who just never showed. However after receipt of my phone they massively reduced the offer (from £90-£16) saying that the screen had been water damaged. This was odd because it was a IP rated phone and the screen was in pristine condition with no scratches, dead pixels, uneven brightness etc. When I disputed this and asked for proof that they hadn't open the phone (ironically thereby invalidating the IP rating) and caused the problem they refused to provide any.

As I didn't accept their new valuation it was returned, and superficially appeared to be in the same condition as when I sent it except they'd stuck arrow stickers on the screen pointing to the alleged damaged pixels. There was no other proof or detail of their testing results.

I ran the screen through some test patterns myself and still nothing was visible to the naked eye, so I was at least reassured they hadn't created an issue or made one worse.

In the end I took it to CEX and they passed it as A grade and offered a fair price. Still no idea if there was really something wrong or if Music Magpie just wanted to back out of the deal for other reasons.

Sold a couple of boxes of games and blu-rays about 18 months ago. Completely painless and they gave me what they promised.

It’s odd what’s actually worth money. Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage on the PS3 fetched nearly as much as everything else put together.

This exact issue is what all the iffy reviews I saw earlier were about - same purported issue, same resolution (get the phone back, sell it to someone else without issue).

I was looking at my older-gen stuff earlier, but figured it'd all be worth about what they quoted me for season 8 of 24 on blu ray (5p!). Maybe I'll scan some other stuff tomorrow.

Well I'm glad I didn't rush this. They've got a promo code for an extra 10% on physical media, so that'll get me another £11.

APRIL10, if anyone else is looking to sell stuff.

I've never sold to them but have bought from them dozens of times, condition has always reflected what the listing said, never had a problem. Nearly always the cheapest for the kind of two bit cds and games I buy.
