The 12.9 magic keyboard experience is nicer too, as itís full size.

@erasr I go with this sentiment.

Currently working at home on my iMac and the 11Ē 2018 iPad Pro + Folio keyboard is the second screen - the Slack channel is open on that 90% of the working day and I use it for video calling (even though the iMac is perfectly capable of that as well, but using the iPad keeps that screen available for notes etc).

I donít use the 11Ē for heavy use on any single thing but itís used throughout the day for various things and the versatility is brilliant - the form factor has a big hand in that.

Iíve had it a year now - I was always sceptical about the need for a tablet, having a smartphone and big desktop, but itís the perfect accompaniment.

The 12.9 weighs 640 grams (versus the 11 at 470g). Itís the weight of a family size box of Rice Krispies.

If you canít hold a device that is the size of a magazine and weighs 640g in one hand you have some serious joint issues/muscle atrophy. These things arenít heavy by any stretch. Itís perfectly operable hand held.

The 11 is that little bit more portable, for sure, but the 12.9 is walkabout friendly.

Do not get a 2020 Pro! They are barely different from the 2018.
But my iPad is from 2014?

Nothing wrong with getting the 2020 edition if you want it.

If you're a crazy multitasker get a 2020 model, as they have 6GB RAM. Only the 2018 models with 1TB have 6GB RAM, the others have 4GB.

I think/hope that with cursor support, there will be quite a bit more strategy and simulation games on the iPad. Which would be perfect, as there are barely any of those available on consoles.

Are there any games with trackpad support on the horizon?

The price difference is considerable between 2018 and 2020, yet performance minimal. Thatís what I was referring to. Read between the lines 😏

An extra gpu core, more ram, better cameras front and back, better microphone, possible clock speed bump, and itís cheaper than the old one was? Not sure what Iím missing here. Of course itís not a generational step beyond the old one and pointless upgrading from a 2018, but looks like itís good enough if you want an iPad Pro right now?

I was toying with the idea of an ipad pro/MK/Pen combo but ultimately i need windows for my work and there was around £400 difference so bought a Surface Pro 7 instead.

I do want a pro sometime in the futurw though, although saying that...im probably better off with the Air 3.

It went from 7 GPU cores to 8. Benchmarks show an improvement of under 10%.
CPU is the same, first time I heard of a clock speed bump?
Usually the 2018 models go for less than the 2020 ones.

And if you barely use the cameras on an iPad and aren't switching between lots of memory-heavy apps, there's no reason to buy the 2020 models instead of the cheaper 2018 ones.

I bought an iPad Pro a couple years ago. Use it every day but ultimately apart from a better pencil charging experience itís been a glorified Netflix/YouTube/safari device.

I just picked one of these up, arrived yesterday. 2020 11Ē pro model. My last ipad was an iPad 2 I bought whilst visiting Hong King back in 2012. Came home, realised its just like my iPhone and sold it. Maybe in this board, actually. Anyway, I picked it up because my 2011Ē MBA is slow as heck and I want to hold out a little linger for next yearís laptop models. Also, thereís a back available to play Gamecube games via Dolphin on iOS 13.4. Gonna try getting that set up next week.

@erasr I may very well pick up a magic keyboard. I night a cheap case off Amazon because Iím susceptible to dropping my phone. Issue with the magic keyboard is that it doesnít seem to provide all over protection, so I guess Iíll be swapping between cases.
