| @CharlieStCloud I'm in the "preferred Last Story" camp too, but I did really enjoy Xenoblade. Can't bloody wait for X on Wii U. |

Registered 14 years agoSome of the landscapes have amazing art though. The first of which is about 4 to 12 hours in depending on the time spent side questing. -

The score is even better than the art and that's saying something. -
I should really get back into this. -

Registered 15 years agoYeah, I paid a similar amount a few months back. It was a real ache to get it to run and keep the FF4 translation patch working. Not even started playing, either.

How does this control without the classic controller? Lack of gamecube pad support has put me off buying this for ages. Don't really want to fork out for a controller just for this game on top of its already inflated price. -

Registered 17 years agoI think it works just fine without the classic controller. No waggle rubbish, I think some people even prefer remote + nunchuck layout. Haven't tried it myself mind.
Got hooked on this again since buying it from Argos. Probably put another 20 hours into it. Plus its very easy to pick back up, even after a year of not playing it (which is rare for JRPG). -

Registered 13 years agoUnplayable without a classic controller in my opinion. Buy a cheapo one for a fiver from eBay like I did and you will not regret it. -
Far from unplayable, in my opinion.. You don't need to manipulate the camera (which is all the d-pad on the Wii remote does) as it follows your movements very quickly. Every other button is mapped and reachable with comfort.
I think my first 20 hours or so were played with a classic controller, but I couldn't find it one day and decided to use the nun-chuck instead. I saw out the rest of the game like that, having no issues.

Registered 8 years agoPlayed 60 hours with wand and nunchuk.
No problems. -
I've just reached Makna forest after 33 hours.
How much longer do I have.
I'm really not feeling it. The combat just isn't strategic enough and just ends up a bit of a drawn out button bash. -
@Gunzberg
Yeah, I played a big chunk of the game with the Wiimote and nunchuck too... I didn't realise at the time you could use a classic controller (yeah, I know...), so just carried on without and really enjoyed it in my oblivious way. I must've been 20 hours into it by the time I plugged the classic controller in, but it didn't really impact the game massively (in fact, I almost gave up on the classic controller, as the default controls were obviously fairly ingrained by then)
I was lucky enough to nab one of the red controller and game bundles for £15 from Argos earlier in the year, but haven't decided what to do with it yet...

Registered 10 years agoThere's quite a bit more to play (I'd say it least 80 hours in total for completion) - I absolutely love the game (I think it's the greatest JRPG ever) but if you're not feeling it after over 30 hours I think it's fair to say you won't enjoy the rest. There's nothing 'new' for the game to reveal (save the story) after 30 hours tbh, it only builds on what's already there. -
It's mainly the mundane, repetitive, fetch questa and the combat. I can't help but feel this would have been better with turn-based or a more strategic combat system. -

I know.
I don't dislike it, or hate it, I just find it all very underwhelming and with little free time to game, I'm considering jacking it.
I don't want to lose 34 hours, that feels a waste, but then putting double that in again to finish it would probably be even more so. -
I'm surprised you're not having to use any kind of strategy. I found I had to swap out particular characters and chain together particular moves when fighting bosses, but perhaps I wasn't levelled highly enough. -

Registered 12 years agoI had to think about my team setup a decent amount but I enjoyed the combat being a bit almost MMO/ARPG style, so yeah I can understand the desire for a bit more tactics.
I am surprised that the story isn't grabbing you though, that's what pushed me on. Loved it. -
The story is a bit shit, IMO.
Twee, cringeworthy bollocks.
The voiceover work that delivers it doesn't help, but Shulk constantly fawning over Dunban ("oh dunban, with you beside us we can't fail to succeed"), and the constant gushing melodramatic drivel they spout I find very annoying.
They're kids, playing to be adults with so much sexual tension it's like an episode of Twilight dreamt up by Rolf Harris. -

Registered 17 years ago@OmniaVincitAmor apparently if you buy the eshop version you can play using the gamepad, which means no wiggle sticks and nunchucks.

I have played the disc based version and it looks better than it did on the Wii, but I expect that's down to me only ever using composite on Wii and it's running through HDMI now.gif)

Thanks dude. Don't suppose you know how much memory that takes up?? And cost? Knowing Nintendo I'm guessing a small fortune.

Registered 17 years agoIt's £17.99 not sure of the size but I can check later. Pick up resi 4 Wii and Metroid Prime trilogy whilst you're at it, they're the same price although you will definitely need a waggle stick and nunchuck for Metroid. -
