Blackberry apps

I got a Blackberry Bold 9700 yesterday, and apart from making the stupid mistake of updating the software when I installed desktop manager for it (all the previously content like Documents2go that came installed with the phone are gone with the new update and are now pay-only apps which makes Blackberry total bastards) it's okay.

What good apps are there? I've Googled it but I can't make head or tail of it all because there's so much shit out there. I don't mind if they're paid apps or not, just want some good games and useful apps that I may not have thought of.

Tried to search for this thread but didn't see any - apologies if this is a duplicate!!!

Blackberry themselves call them apps, I don't know the etiquette though. Is this really for grown ups? Seems like a really primitive ugly phone (though functional) thus far, I just hope I can get some good stuff for it. I'd like a good calendar/organiser, MAYBE a different theme (if you can do that on Blackberry these days, tried it once before a year ago on a BB and it was a fucking disaster), different browser (not Opera), get the Gmail 'app' to work etc.

You don't need a gmail app. Just use the email setup page to add your google details and they'll go straight to your messages. If it's IM you're after, I just BeeJive Messenger which does a decent job of keeping multiple networks connected, although less so since they went to version 2.0. More significantly, it can run in the background and push messages all day without troubling the battery at all.
