@BigOrkWaaagh Hello again. I read on an Amazon review that you can’t make the memory from the SD card part of the main memory to store and use apps from it...even though Google made this standard ages ago in one of their Android updates. Is this correct? If so, the 32GB space is tiny if we can’t use the SD storage for anything other than photos/videos. |

Registered 11 years ago@BurnoutJunkie Kind of. When you insert the memory card it asks you how you want to format it. If you set it as removable, you can't install apps to it full stop. If you set it as device storage, apps still install to the device memory, but you then have the option to move them to the SD card after the fact. -

Registered 14 years ago@BigOrkWaaagh I found these results on Google:
http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/id-3580718/move-apps-huawei-mediapad.html
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/184929/cant-move-apps-to-sd-card-on-huawei
Seems like Huawei has stopped supporting the use of SD card as expandable storage to make it the main memory like you can do with most other Android devices today.
A bit gutted, was going to stick a 128GB micro SD in with it as a gift for my niece, but if the main storage is just 32GB and Huawei has removed the feature, then I won't bother. -

Talking of a nice bit of kit, just got the Huawei Mate 20 pro. Blimey it's good! -

Registered 14 years agoQuestion, and this is really bugging me.
I've been charged for sending 4 picture messages, a couple of quid.
I've never had this, especially as I'm 99% of the time on WiFi.
Vodafone suggested WhatsApp had converted an SMS into a MMS and this incurred a charge.
Is this right? I can't see how to turn this off, even if this is the case. They also suggested that if going over 160 characters I could also get charged (unlimited txt, so is this even a thing?!).
Using Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Totally baffled. Am I missing some kill switch via settings that turns this off?
Internet not really being that helpful, nor are Vodafone.
Thank you -

Registered 15 years agoWhatsapp doesnt send SMS or MMS as far as I'm aware. It's a data based app be it WIFI or 4g and uses none of a phones native features. -

Registered 5 years agoFor the first time ever I have experienced "early adopter" woes, with my Mate 20 Pro!
Nothing too soul destroying. Just the screen edges having a green tint where (apparently) the glue was a bit iffy on the first batch. Phone is useable put it looks awful when the screen is black. Looks like the Hulk shot his wad all over my screen!
Typically, I was 4 days over my 30 day "straight swap" entitlement, and EE have now got to send it off for a replacement directly from Huawei. Told them I'm keeping it until after Christmas.
I'm not being without my phone over the holiday period ffs, god knows how long it'll take them to get it back to me!
Other than that little blip, very impressed with the phone so far. -

Registered 17 years ago@eleven63 sent any SMS at all? Samsung's used to have an issue where SMS over the single message character limit were converted to an MMS -

In the 30 odd years of using mobiles, I've never been charged for sending a picture message.
This is one of those tech things that should have a simple and clear answer, but does it fuck. -

Registered 16 years agoI vaguely remember being able to split long texts up so they are sent individually to get round it. But yeah just use WhatsApp! -

Registered 15 years agoI've never had a problem with long SMS es not being split up. Install the Google Messaging app or keep feeding Zucks evil empire to get around the problem.
I've got free SMS/MMS anyways. Surprised to hear companies still charge for them. -

Registered 14 years ago@brokenkey quite. I use WhatsApp for sending pictures. Text messages for, well, quick messages. Hence the confusion over the cost!? -

Registered 17 years agoOk. so did you add an emoji or an animated gif? or a "sticker". The latter are picutres, rather than unicode, so will automatically trip the message (in your SMS app) into an MMS for sending. The former should not. hit me up on twitter and I'll send you some screenshots. -

Registered 14 years ago@eleven63 Also, some phones have a setting to convert long text messages to SMS. So have a rummage through your settings just in case. One of my friends occasionally sends me very long text messages which come through as an SMS which I then have to log in on BT’s website to read! -

I did, I'm sure they will improve in time. BBC have hands on with the FlexPai and looks better than the Samsung prototype

I have no sound on VOIP calls. I've googled it and found a lot of people with the same problem. I've tried all of the suggestions: emtpy the cache, check microphone is on, turn off Google Voice, turn off Google assistant and nothing works. I know the mic works because I can record audio, Google Voice picks up my voice and my videos have sounds.
This is driving me crazy. Any ideas? I have a Huawei p10 plus. -

Have you tried mustard around the mic
