I very vaguely remember something similar with my old phone where it seemed to get its pants in a bunch about which app wanted to use it. Deny *everything* access to the mic, turn WhatsApp or whatever back on. If that works, turn each app back on one by one.

Failing that, test with speakerphone because it uses a different mic and/or a headset.

Also, check in the settings of the app you're trying to use if you've given the correct permissions to it...

I had tried revoking a few permissions but not everything. I just tried that. Rebooted the phone and only allowed whatsaop an duo... nothing. Still not working. It's so fucking frustrating because I have spent so long and nothing seems to work. Thanks for the trying!

I'm just out of options. I spent ALL last night exhausting every youtube vid I could find and so many web pages who all most say the same fixes and nothing nothing works.

@acidsnake It has the permissions granted for the mic so should be ok! Thanks for helping.

Is this the point where someone says "Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."..?

Bought a cheapo Android phone to play around with and made sure not to purchase a Huawei because of botnet. The phone I bought (Honor 10 Lite) is also made by Huawei apparently. :|

Honor being one or of their more famous lines of phones.

I bought a Coolpix but the fucker turned out to be made by Nikon.

I bought a McCheese and lo and behold... it was made by McDonald's

I read an issue of the Amazing Spiderman and fuck me if it didn't turn out to be a Marvel comic.

@wobbly_Bob I know it sounds (no pun intended) obvious, but have you contacted the app devs direct or the mobile manufacturer?

I feel your pain when modern technology doesn't work!

Worth the investment? I mean it's silly money for a nice gadget, essentially. Right?

Yeah I think so. I mean taking away the fact it's a smart watch I think it looks really nice and have had a few people ask me about it. In terms of functionality I use the sleep records and the fitness tracking stuff daily. It's also very handy for notifications etc. Yes I know you could spend less and get the same features but I wanted a more premium look. No complaints from me.

I've got a Gear Sport. Decent for what it is, although I wish it ran WearOS.

A decent experience and a great camera. I'm going to buy the 128GB Pixel 2 for my other half for mother's Day. Enjoy your phone. Argos?

That's worrying, they have dash charging. Aside from that, do you / have you owned every smartphone ever

What's dash charging? Did you get your computer sorted out.

    Edit

It seems OK, charge is almost finished, being sat on a shelf somewhere for over a year probably means it needed extra charging time or something.

You don't get a fast (dash) charging thingy in the Pixel 2 box, they do support it, you just have to buy one.
