Okie dokie. Is there a way to turn the black bar at the bottom of the screen to white? It sticks out a bit when browsing or using certain apps.

    Edit

It seems some apps need updating because a few have a white bar instead of black.

The camera and audio quality on this phone are quite good! 👍

You don't get a fast (dash) charging thingy in the Pixel 2 box, they do support it, you just have to buy one.

    @Dougs

You do! It comes in the box... charges fast
    Dashcharge is one plus only

Pixel uses usb power delivery, not quick charge or any of the other systems

Says here the charging is capped at 10.5w anyway.

I have just picked up the Pixel 2 for my missus and getting it prepped for migration from iPhone SE. Need a little help though. The syncing for iCloud is not working. It's enabled on the iPhone and I have manually synced it, but when I check the contacts on iCloud.com, they are missing a few entries.

Do we have a different way to sync them from the phone itself into the cloud?

I just skipped syncing with iCloud. I imagine that we are never returning to Apple for our phone needs. So we just used the cable to transfer contact details and it's all going to be syncing like that from now on.

I need that Huawei P30 Pro in my life. I didn't realise I needed a 50x zoom camera. But now that it exists in a mobile, I want it!

Can't see an app thread... so this will do.

Anything available for android like apple's passbook / wallet (or whatever it's called)? Sick of having to dig around in emails for ticket QRs etc or having to find individual apps for transport.

Ideally something capable of showing a qr on the lock screen.

@Psychotext It doesnt really answer your question but I just take a screen shot with vol - and power buttons depressed at the same time, so codes etc can be brought up easily.

I already scratched the screen on this Pixel 2. Not one decent screen protector for it but it's OK because Gorilla glass. Gorilla glass my arse. Fucking keys.

    Getting a Mi 9.

I've got a superb screen protector on my Pixel 2. Dropped my phone onto a jagged rock on holiday. Screen looked completely shattered. I was devastated as I'd only had the phone a few months. Then realised I could just peel off the protector and the phone was good as new still. Was gobsmacked I got away with it. Plus they sent 2 protectors in the original box.

Was this if people are interested. Seems to have dropped in price quite a bit too. Maybe cos Pixel 3 is a thing now.

Pixel 2 XL, the curved edge seems to fuck with the available protectors. :/

Right, my phone is acting weird so I've started looking into a replacement.
And it's as if the universe has aligned to my needs. First the Pixel 3a becomes available on amazon (which means I could order one from Germany ... probably) and is also an awesome contender for perfect bang for the buck phone.

But then Motorola announces the Moto One Vision which is cheaper and ticks all the boxes bar one, LCD instead of AMOLED. But since I've stopped reading books on my phone this is less of a problem.

So now I have to great mid rangers to pick from. PLUS the OnePlus 7PRO which looks fantastic.

    @Tonka

Pretty sure your phone could be fixed by a new ROM. No need to spend any money :-)

Since you seem obsessed with updates, Shirley the pixel is the one to go for?

Maybe... I get a greay screen (well, a screen where every pixel has a random colour which from a foot or more away looks mostly grey) sometimes when I turn it on.

A lot of the times this goes away if I click the powerbutton. Sometimes I need to reboot the phone. Given that I have my digital ID, do all my "banking", and keep my commuter card on the phone this is becoming somewhat stressful.

Last thing I want to do is dickaround with it to see if I can fix it. I'll probably just bring out my super old shit phone and stick my SIM in that for now. Then I can keep on pondering wether Pixel 3a (with AMOLED and Google software tweaks) or Moto One Vision (With better design, battery, storage and lower price) is the way forward.

At the moment I can't see any non scalpy Pixel 3a on amazon.de. The ones that are available have a hefty price hike attached.

The Moto one is a One meaning it'll get updates. Btw, you're confusing me with someone else who is obsessed. I've merely been the one pointing out that Motorola/Lenovo have been good with updates.

But yes, the upgrades is definitely a plus. More so the special Google features. On the other hand 100 price difference. I'm such a sucker for trying to get bang-for-the-buck when it comes to phones.

This is a nice problem to have though. I'm well pleased.

Cue a flood of 'well, they have always been fine for me' but, after owning an S3 and an S8, I wouldn't buy another Samsung if they were the last android brand on earth.

Outside of all the annoying shit they bake into the OS, the S3 was repaired under warranty twice and the S8, aka triggers broom, has been in four fucking times.

Ha, I have an S7 and was going to say much the same thing! Bit sluggish from time to time due in no doubt to the bloatware but otherwise much better than my experiences with the S2 and S3. There is a reason why I was asking though, so might look elsewhere...

I bought a Samsung Galaxy TAB once. Will never touch another Samsung product after that.

Their phones look good from a distance though.

I wouldn't buy another samsung again either.

If i wanted an android phone i'd probably get a xiaomi, although have to be careful with ones that are approved for HD netflix/prime, as not all of them are.

I can get a Pixel 3a for 29 a month, which is very tempting indeed.

24 I think, and only with 4GB of data - but I don't reach that now anyway

    Edit: with 50 upfront
