I didn't realise this, having never owner an iPhone. That makes the iPhone 11 even more attractive. Thanks for the tip.

There's a whole cottage industry in replacing iPhone batteries, so why worry? If you're in it for the long term just factor in £100 to have the battery replaced in 4 years time.
My only reservation is that all phones in particular are limited by the lifetime of their battery... and then they're a paperweight. The same surely applies to the iPhone 11. -

Registered 15 years agoI mean, they all have their quirks, unless you only buy a phone thats as stock as possible, so theres always a bit of fannying around but even then, its not massive.
The M-I-L wanted me to get her an ultra cheap laptop, so I rolled the dice and got her a chromebook, assuming that since she always had samsung phones, the OS would be consistent enough for her to use and, for the most part, its bang on.
Its actually a great bit of kit of 200 odd quid. Im genuinely v impressed. -

What 'quick settings'?
Pinch them with five fingers or long swipe up from the bottom of the screen then swipe the app away
The stuff that protects your kids
Where do you put a credit card? In the wallet...
From the wallet
In settings -

Registered 18 years agoQuick settings is the only thing that really bugs me but that may have changed in newer iPhones as my wife only has a 7 (dunno which OS though) -

Registered 15 years agoIf you mean the group of settings from the pull down, I suppose the equivalent is pull down from the top right on the ipad/phone. You can now long press the bluetooth and wifi icons to get more granular control but its still not quite as in depth. -

Registered 11 years ago@BurnoutJunkie Good point about 5G, as I do intend on keeping my phone for around 4 years if possible. That said, I rarely use 4G because I'm nearly always near wifi, plus there's nothing to say Apple won't charge £900-£1000 for the iPhone 12, whereas the iPhone 11 can be had for £700. -

Registered 18 years agoYeah, I was looking at Chromebooks until a) my wife desperately wanted Win10 and b) the school kindly loaned us a couple of Chromebooks for the kids to work from. Which has been a godsend -

The keyboard is a bit spongy and the viewing angles arent amazing, but other than that, I genuinely dont think you'd do better for the money. Its really decent. -

Registered 16 years ago@Zerobob Given the Covid crisis and the recession that’s probably going to hit the world, I doubt Apple will not have the lowest end iPhone 12 model at a similar price to the 11.
The rarely use 4G argument is fair, but it’s always nice to have it when you do need 4G when you’re out and about, no? It’s now June, there’s another 3-4 months until the announcement and then release shortly after (unless there’s a big delay) of the iPhone 12. My advice would be to hold out these next few months and then make a call. In fact the iPhone 11 may get a big of a price cut when the new models launch, so if you decide the 12 isn’t for you or the lowest end 12 is much more than £700, you can get the 11. -

Look, I'm not saying any of this is better on android, I'm just saying that it's tough to teach an old dog new tricks, which makes Apple UX a bit annoying to me.
And that long swipe thing to get the app overview was confusingly tough even after I googled how to do it. That's definitely because it was similar enough to android to be familiar but then had a little difference that made me fail repeatedly. -
Grrr got a problem on my S20 and cant seem ro resolve it no matter what i try. Basically i've lost some permissions on my sd card. If i try and move, copy files to it i get a pop up message advising that i need to grant access. I've checked all permissions and all seem fine. I did also use the card fine when i first got it, so now im wondering if a samsung update has screwed it. Card works fine in my laptop.
Baffled i am. -

Registered 14 years ago@b-rk I don't think I never responded to that. If you're talking about low volume from the mobile itself, like what the oiks do on my bus commute, that is nothing that I'm concerned about. If you're saying that the volume is still low when played via Bluetooth headphones, I'm sure I'll be fine. -

Yeah, seems to be a pretty minor update. Some QOL changes but nothing that's going to blow you away.
I'll probably get it some time next year (S10+) -
