Iím guessing the combat not being quite right would be down to segas non-involvement again seeing as it pinched the virtua fighter engine.

@ChiefGB I seem to remember that one of the criticisms of the originals was that the combat wasn't as smooth as the VF games despite the Suzuki link. Not sure if it actually borrowed the engine or was just a new interpretation of it but I 'think' it was new.

Sounds perfect. Basically a Dreamcast game.

I never expected it to be anything else so I'm looking forward to playing it next year when I actually get chance to play some games again.

Yu already wants to make Shenmue 4 and maybe 5.

Probably keeping it from being a platform exclusive would ensure it has more of a chance. By this point Shenmue is niche. Release it on everything. Xbox, Switch, Stadia, then see how the land lays.

It would be a crying shame if this tale never gets finished.

@Lukree Uh-oh. You missed the whole furore over the Epic exclusivity. Basically, you could ask for a refund, or wait a year to maybe get a Steam copy.

Completed a few of the Gacha sets last night, itís a great way to make money. Itís a bit tedious but a complete jewel set can be sold for over 1000 and once youíve done that a few times money isnít an issue.

Put a few hours in last night and I'm now really getting back into the Shenmue swing of things. I do wish the map had a zoom option though - is that just me?

What are people eating? Either I'm lost or Ryo still refuses to go towards the supermarket so all I can eat are what the chopping wood guy sells, namely pears, garlic and alcohol. I'm worried about the guys health

Mostly parsnips from the veg stand, as they seem to offer the best price:health ratio.

I'm using fishing when I need funds. 3 in-game hours at the lake with the 50 yuan rod nets around 450-500.

What happens if your health drains to zero? Is it an instant game over?

Would be funny if you could save the game in a situation where you are almost dead and there's not enough time to reach the nearest food item.

Ryo just refuses to sprint, complains that he's hungry and you have to walk. Your health automatically regenerates while it's in red (last 3 dots) so you're never really walking around with 0 health

    @Zomoniac Nice one.

Another thing I seem to be overlooking, how do you turn tokens back in to cash? I know the process is redeem them for prizes and then sell the prizes to a pawn shop, but I can't figure out how or where I do that

I've not tried the fishing yet, need to remember to go and see the man before I get sidetracked by other things.

Sorry for repeating a question from a previous page (but I really want to know) is there darts in this?

I haven't found darts yet, but I know there's a bar near the starting area. Might be in there. A lot of the street games make an appearance right off the bat so darts would be a strange omission

@gamingdave I don't know about later areas but I've not come accross darts in the village. There is whack a mole though.

More specifically, fuck the QTE immediately after Dou Niu!

I still can't believe I actually have Shenmue III on my PS4. Madness. I'm loving it so far, especially for how true it has stayed to itself.

Yeah, fuck those QTEs into the sun. Oh what's that, you flubbed one? Go back to the start of the fight!

At least the fight is easy enough.

Considering how much I've wanted this game in my life - for over half of it, I'm absolutely gutted to say I'm not really enjoying it.

    :(

Not that far into it, but just find the idea of tens of hours more of it pretty daunting. I'm just finding it too slow.

I got into the swing of things during my second session. First few hours I think I was just settling in
