Fair enough. I've played the game and I could also do about 2 hours on youtube about its weak points, there are many. But I still really liked it and I'm glad it exists. I was happy to pay full price for it Edited by Steve-Perry at 18:18:27 28-07-2020 |

Registered 15 years agoI feel that pretty much all games these days are grind fests to extend the playtime tbh, but maybe that's another full conversation for elsewhere.
Agree with comments above that I could pick loads of faults in S3 all day, but also absolutely loved it and I'm amazed still that I now own it as a thing that exists. -
Finally on steam, and on sale. Only took a year.

I already have it on the Epic Toilet Store but I might double dip for decent controller support and achievements. -

Registered 15 years agoChrist I still haven't beaten this. Unbelievable considering how much I like the first two. I reached a point where after near endless 'Talk to this guy instead, now find this guy, one of these 6 martial art schools should have what you're looking for' it lead me into finding the right one only to be hit with another arbitrary ceiling I have to break through by making a ridiculous amount of money. It really killed my enthusiasm for it because I could see it was game devs padding out the length for no reason. It really is just the equivalent of an anime filler arc. -

Registered 4 years agoSpent 20 minutes moving those books in the library.. to then find out I need to do it again and messed up a few, which meant I couldn't find the book I needed to progress the story and need to come back again tomorrow. Oh man Shenmue.. -

Registered 14 years agoI loved the first 2 back in the day, then played less than an hour of this. Didn’t feel right at all, like it had lost the magic. Then I read the story barely progresses and lost interest.
I wish he had just tried to wrap the story up somehow, might not have been perfect but finishing the arc woulda been something at least. -

Registered 15 years agoThere is something to be said about the creator sticking to his original vision and not compromising on how many games he planned for. But I refuse to believe this is what he planned S3 would be, otherwise it really makes you wonder how good his original vision even is. Most of S2 is essentially looking for 1 person, same as S3, but at least you meet Xiuying, Ren, Joy etc. Actual memorable characters. Should they make S4, I would expect or even hope that they make cuts on the story. -

So I finally completed 2 after all these years. I enjoyed the experience, felt a bit true to life in the end, just mundane repetitive tasks.. but somehow felt it all worked. I did get a bit frustrated at the end when I'm trying to get to the village and the game doesn't value your time.. walking down a path, then a dead end about 3 times.
