Registered 20 years agoNot opened the Nike app for ages - just had a look at the new version and I've just reached Volt level at last.
Still have a soft spot for the App as it takes my right back to my first ever run. -

It's weird coz on the site it's in KM, and on the app I have selected metric units of measurement but the app still refuses to show anything but miles

Registered 17 years agoThis app is a fucking mess. I just ran a reasonably fast 5k and it recorded it as 0.3k. -
Nice to see you've still got the creepshot of the Frozen lass in your album, user smoothpete

Switched to strava, this Nike thing can do one. -

Registered 13 years agoYou'll never go back pete. I swapped to strava a good while back. It had none of the niggles that used to wind me up with the old nike+ app, especially when it often messed up distances and speeds.
Mind you, it may be wise to disable the auto-pause and screen lock/timeout options in the strava settings if you haven't already done that. For a brief while that caused some occasional issues with losing gps signal and not finding it again once re-activated. That might have been patched now though.
Admittedly, I only use phone strava for cycling now after I swapped to a gps watch this year, once I started to resent lugging a phone on my arm and had stopped listening to music when running anyway.
I still load my runs and rowing data up to strava anyway, because a log of effort helps keep focus! -

Registered 12 years agoLike many in here, I've left Nike+ well behind. The app, the watch and the website all had many problems, but as with Gurg, I'll always have a soft spot for them (and this thread) because they got me into running in the first place.
I occasionally use the Strava App, but worry they are bringing in too many features that will weigh it down. A couple of years ago it was clean and light.
I run with a Garmin watch that uploads all my stuff to Strava. The ability to upload via bluetooth using my phone has blown my mind! Who knew plugging it into a computer every time was such a time sink.

Registered 15 years agoI still use the Nike+ on my iPod paired with the foot sensor but obviously they removed the syncing and the website has gone as well.
So what's good nowadays? Strava? -

Registered 17 years agoI’m still using Nike+ as a mostly indoor runner as Strava doesn’t do treadmill runs on Apple Watch. -
You can log virtual runs on the strava app though if you have a gps watch that can cope with treadmill running, or just add in the data form the running machine itself.
I never treadmill now though, I like to see stuff and get out in the fresh air!
I still rate Strava a lot mrpon, it covers all the bases I need it to.
