This happened to me at the airport too! Well, not the punching bit, but we were lining up to board a domestic flight and some guy just sidles in front of me.
Once in a hellish remote place in China waiting in an airport queue I was punched in the gut by an old woman. As I doubled over in pain she shoved me and my case out the way and made for the desk and managed to check in in front of me. Funny thing was, it wasn't like she actually gained anything.
The moral of the story being, be thankful your fellow queue-ers are not more competitive.
Why? It's not like the plane is going to leave either of us behind. -

Or, you know, select the "PC Hardware" category at the top. Crazy, I know! -

Registered 10 years agoBit of sales law advice if anyone can help.
Friend of mine ordered an iPad from Argos (roughly £600) - he had it delivered yesterday an instead of an iPad in the box there was a jiffy bag filled with sand. After laughing my head off at the picture he sent I told him to call Argos and get it sorted, however after 30 minutes on the phone they pretty much fobbed him off and told him to contact the police as it was a criminal matter and there's nothing they can do for him. He did and the police told him it wasn't a criminal matter and he needs to take it up with Argos.
Told him the usual things - Obudsman, Citizen's Advice etc. but I'm wondering if there's a quick way for him to get things sorted? Unfortunately he didn't buy it on credit card.
Any advice? Pretty shocking from Argos tbh. -

its Argos's problem. Call them up again, speak to someone higher up the food chain.

Registered 3 years agoNot legal advice but:
It's patently breach of contract under the implied term in the Sales of Goods Act 1979 s.13 with Argos at fault. It's solely a civil matter.
Contact Argos directly through their customer care line, do not be fobbed off, and take it as high as you can.

Reminds me of the time a guy in my halls at uni told us he bought a 'laptop' off some guy in a car on the street for £200, and when he opened the bag it was just potatoes.

I have never had to try so hard to stifle laughter so much while appearing sympathetic. Also had to really fight the urge to yell "PO-TA-TOES!" at him at every opportunity. -

Registered 10 years agoHe put it on social media and he's already had calls asking him to make a video about his experience and monetize it as well as someone from The Sun (bleurgh) who wants to do an article.
Can't wait to see him holding a bag of sand with an angry face. -

These are rubber handles for cutting knives. -

Registered 16 years agoHigh humidity, your dishwasher isn’t cleaning them properly and when you do use them, you leave hair gel/oil from whatever you’re cooking on them which is hard to get off.
I had a set of Gary Rhodes (RIP) knives with silicon handles and they did a similar thing. Chucked them in the end and got some cheap ikea ones as they always felt grimey. -

Registered 15 years agoHas anyone had an overflowing grid unblocked? Just curious what the process was/is. I've emailed United Utilities but not expecting much. -

Registered 17 years agoYou mean a drain grid cover? If its shared it will be their responsibility and utilities usually sort it pretty quickly, if it's private then it's up to the home owner. I wouldn't waste time emailing. -

Inside your property (including the ground outside) - Your problem...UNLESS...
It's a shared sewer, in which case only the bit of the pipe from your house to the sewer is your problem.
It's better with a picture

Cheers!

Anyone know if there's a site where I can check (easily) if a film has had a HD release? I have about 80 films I need to check and I don't want it to turn into hours of work!
