Final Fantasy X I suppose, I really bought it when there was nothing out, I picked it up because I was bored and Sega stopped supporting the dreamcast, and I wanted a dvd player.

I didn't play games for 10 years so missed the ps2. I bought one 2 years ago to play ico and SOTC and loved them.

GTA. IT was the first 3d GTA. I robbed my gran to buy a PS2 when that game came out.

The original Playstation sold it to me. After completing Silent Hill, MGS, FFVII - IX and GTA series, I brought it purely because I knew it would be good if they continued thoughs franchises. Though at the time of launch I was convinced the Dreamcast would win in the end...which is why I neglected my PS2 a little at launch.

I think playing GTA 3 for the first time sealed the deal for me though.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, it was the first game I'd played in about 5 years after a self imposed video game exile and was totally blow away. Used my student loan to by it, some more games and booze, the rest I squandered on food and other non-essentials.

    SNES: Link to the Past
    PS: Silent Hill
    Gamecube: Mario Sunshine
    Xb360: Grand Theft Auto 4
    PS3: Uncharted/MGS4

Can't really remember the rest.. But I think I just bought the consoles without a specific game in mind..

I picked up one of the very early Jap PS2's and if anyone can remember the limited games available at the time. I think I had Pro Evo, DOA and Ridge Racer. Great at the time but pretty average by today's standards.

ps1 was resident evil. and tomb raider. and silent hill
ps2 was anything silent hill related and ssx
dc: shenmue (lol), and ended up keeping the console (still) because it had the best wacky races version. Ecco was fun till later on where it's so annoying you want to punch it's tits off
    gc: eternal darkness
snes: super mario world, final fight (dont laugh) and mariokart

I was gifted a wii purely for hotd:overkill , does that count?

I need to get out more

The two games that sold ps 2 for me where metal gear solid 2 and final fantasy X
silent hill 2 was a good game near start as well.

Even though they where follow ups to great games they felt like full experience, the problem i find is since then so many spin off to certain games and what you really want is the big game like for example kingdom hearts birth by sleep sure it probley great game but id rather see full blown kingdom hearts 3 , this just one example and many game series do this.

This is going to sound stupid but it was the Eyetoy.

I was at my cousins and he was showing me that kung foo thing and i had never seen anything like it so went out and bought a PS2. The eyetoy didnt really work in my flat due to the lights not being what it needed. Still glad i did thourgh as i also picked up Onimusha for it and that alone would of been reason to have a PS2.

I had to rent operation winback and I enjoyed it but now I have come to realise it was shit

Probably SSX for me, although I bought one because it was shiny and new. The only time I've ever bought a console on launch, normally i wait about 3 years!
