Registered 9 years ago@Kay That sounds about right- I dimly remember the cartoon but had pretty much given up on gaming for a few years while I was a student, before getting back into it when I started working. -

Isn't there one already out, Two Towns? Is it any good? -

My daughters have that on DS which is apparently the better version - frame rate issues and bugs in the 3DS version.

Registered 11 years agoI've never really understood the appeal of Pokemon games, although I have tried them; I think that, if this makes sense, I prefer games where the mechanics support your ability to play the game, rather than fully understanding and exploiting the mechanics is the game.
I think it's partly why I don't get on with Fire Emblem: it's too anal about lining up exactly the right unit with each enemy, if you fail to get everything just right you don't get everything out of the game. I actually want to play a game, not a visual representation of a spreadsheet.
The Etrian Odyssey games tread a very fine line on this, you can go insanely overboard with your set-ups, but at the same time it's forgiving enough to let you play how you feel. -
@redcrayon
The latest Harvest Moon is called A New Beginning and is apparently one of the better titles (aside from a painfully long tutorial at the start).
Two Towns was a DS title that was translated to the 3ds. -

Registered 10 years agoJust picked up my 3ds xl that was charging in the lounge to find the top screen smashed. Flipping kids. Does anyone know how I can get it repaired without losing all my e shop games?
Regretting digital library nowhopefully all my saves should be on the SD though???
Could I use my wife's 3DSXL? Or will Nintendo be able to transfer my purchases?
Sorry, never broke a console before and don't know where to start! Hopefully repair is cheaper than buying a new one -
Games being locked to a console rather than account is the most absurd purchasing system ever. Hopefully they can transfer them to a new machine for you.
Incidentally I hated my 3ds. MK7, SF4 and Super Mario 3D Land are great, but the machine itself was crap. 3 hour battery life and a terrible screen, plus far more uncomfortable than a DS for some reason.
Are the XL's much of a step up in regards to battery life, screen, and comfort? -

Should work, though I can't remember if you need the top screen for the transfer process. Think there's videos on Youtube anyway -

Registered 11 years ago@electrolite I'm pretty sure all the selections are made on the bottom screen, the top screen just displays the progress, though it's been quite a few months since I did my transfer. Reminds me, need to off-load my old 3DS. -

Yeah, but there's the question of shifting the broken 3ds... At least I know the cost of the repair, dunno. Still annoyed about it. Then again my 3ds sat unused for ages so back to my vita for now

My promotional credit is ready for this.
That title needs a colonoscopy though. -
I just got the new Harvest Moon game from the eshop. I'm only a few game days into it but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Graphics are decent and you can rotate and zoom the camera. The 3d effect is ok but not really necessary. The first few days have quite a few tutorials but some of them can be skipped if you're an HM veteran. I get the impression that it'll take a while before things really get going.
If you like a bit of farming action I'd certainly recommend HM A New Beginning. It's about 2500 blocks for the download. It serves a relaxed counterpoint to Animal Crossing (although is far less funny and has much shallower characters. You could easily spend 100+ hours on it.
Right, I'm off to check on my turnips. -

As I recall, the Inazuma games are football based RPG's, with the two different names differentiating the two versions available.

Registered 8 years agoNot sure if this is the best place for it but...
I just tried the new Phoenix Wright game demo and actually really enjoyed it. I've never really heard much about these games other than that a lot of people like them and for some reason assumed I wouldn't like them but figured it's about time I tried one. So, would this game be a good one to start with or should I try to play through all the others first? From the demo it seems like it might be a good place to start with it being set a few years after the rest (presumably) but it could potentially get confusing later on in the story. -

Registered 7 years ago@MatMan562 Didn't even realise there was a demo out!
I'd play the other ones at some point if you can get them at a decent price. Apollo Justice was my first and I loved it so much I played all the rest. I don't imagine it would be confusing, although there might be a few running jokes or in-jokes in there. -

Registered 6 years agoDemo is excellent and voice acting is kept to an absolute minimum so I'm very pleased. One of my favourite series in gaming so can't wait -
@santashi Oh, ok, thanks! Is there not some big overly complex story to it all then? I assumed there would be. I'll have to see if I can get any of them cheap then.
