I've got a DSLR with three lenses, a small tripod, flash, filters and the usual paraphanalia, and at the moment it's all in the shoulder bag that came with the camera.

I could do with something that's

    a) Got a bit more space, and
    b) Is a damn sight more comfortable to carry

Off to New York soon, so would like to get a backpack of some sort before I go. Just checked Jessops.com and there's about a gazillion to choose from.

Any makes / models to be recommended? Don't mind spending a bit of cash on a decent bit of kit, but prefereably not silly money.

    Cheers.

I'm sure everyone has their favourites, but I personally use one of these bad boys - has lasted me well for almost 3 years, and has enough room for 40D + lens, plus room for two other lenses, my filters, charger, spare batteries etc. etc.

I got it originally for £8 on a 7dayshop sale... £8! Although I think you'll have to pay the princely sum of £18 now...

    I have a 3n1-20 from Kata.

    Amazon link

It works really nicely, is comfortable and has some great features. It swings round from back to your front for easy access through the side doors. (Similar to a Lowe design I believe). Bit pricey but worth it.

I've always used LowePro bags, never had a problem.

Use a Crumpler bag myself, big and well padded and the shoulder strap is comfortable enough. Nice that it doesn't really look like a camera bag and can also double as a sexy man-bag ;). Fits my 40D + lens and 2 other lenses, plus other accessories.

The best camera bag I've ever had was an own-brand John Lewis one. And I've tried them all: LowePro, Domke, Billingham, Crumpler...

I haven't got one but I do like the look of the National Geographic bags

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=national+geographic&x=0&y=0

Though they look about as waterproof as a sheet of plenty.

    Cheers.

The Crumpler stuff looks nice, but at the thick end of £200, is a bit too expensive for me. Plus, having to unzip the whole of the back of the case and lay everything out every time you want to change a lens looks a bit awkward, and potentially screams 'Mug me!'.

As for the JL stuff - had look in Peter Jones at lunchtime, but we don't seem to do anything other than small 'bum-bag' type things anymore.

I'll have a look at the LowePro and see what that's like.

    Thanks for the responses.
