Sorry to post yet another Digi Camera thread but xmas is a coming and while i've got some cash available i'm looking for a Digital Camera for my partner.. Any recommendations for a nice camera under £150 that is compact and fairly easy to use? I've seen a Sony DSC-P72 3MP Digital Camera on Ebay for £145.. no idea if that's a good model or price. |
What Digital Camera for less than £150?

Registered 18 years agoI have a Canon Ixus digital V3, 3 Megapixel etc.
I bought it for £300, but I can only trade it in for around 70 quid, so I'll be hanging onto it.
You may find this camera somewhere on eBay, and I can definitely give it two thumbs waaaaay up. -

Sorry Mike, please forgive me.
If it's any consolation I've only made 90 odd posts there in the 18 months or so that I've been registered.

The [link=http://www.dpreview.com/news/0303/03030216kodakls633.asp">Kodak LS633 is the one I went for, and having used it for a few months am really glad I did. It's easy to use, takes good pictures (is 3.2MP - which is as much as you really need unless you're a budding David Bailey), and is cheap. Plus it has a Amazon have the LS633 for £99 - which is a bloody steal as they were over £250 on release. They are bringing out newer models, hence the reduction. For your budget you can afford to splash out on a larger memory card, like the 256MB SD Card I got for £40. I've never filled it yet, has bags of room. Also I advise to get a second back-up battery. The LS633 takes -

Picture quality > camera looks. The A70 isn't big, its not heavy and it WILL take fanstastic shots. -

Registered 20 years agoI've recently gotten a Konica Minolta XG, which is really nice (when you remember to put up the image quality *cough*). Works like a charm, 3.3 mpixels, 3x optical Zoom that whole shebang. Very slim, very light, very nice, try to find that one, I recomend it. -

Well you can't get much smaller than the Casio EX range. I've got the Z4 but the Z3 is also very good. -

I had a Pentax Optio S4 (until i lost it), which I believe they are based on (same tech inside) and I was happy with it.
They also seem to be getting an upgrade to 5mp next month.
http://www.berridgemail.co.uk are fairly cheap and I got my local Jessops to price match the web price as i didn't want to wait for it. -

Registered 18 years agoI bought a Fuji Finepix S3000 a while ago, which was £180. Since they've released the S7000 and S3500, the S3000 has been reduced to about £150.
Very good camera in my opinion, but i'm not an expert. I'm sure there's plenty of reviews around though.
Here's the Kelkoo prices anyway. -

The first digital camera I ever owned was a Fuji Finepix...an MX1200 which is no longer made. Only 1.2 mega pixals but did me proud for a years or so. The misses now uses it and loves it. -

I tried a few different cameras in the shop that fell in to the right price range, and the right tech specs. The rest of the cameras were all small, fiddly, slimline and not as appealing as the S3000. It's got a great chunky feel to it, easy to use, plenty of features and good specs. The only thing that would have made it nicer is a power supply and rechargable battery of some kind (as opposed to the rechargeable AA batteries). Great camera though. -

Registered 19 years agoI second the Casio Z40 - Took it with me to Canada and was incredibly pleased with the results.
Actually - this is a massively compressed version, the original is far better. I was so chuffed with it, bought on the way to Canada for about £160 in Dixons I think. -
