We got everything last night, first Starship to land, first starship to fly twice via spectacular RUD, and a Starlink mission shortly after. Sweet, didn't get to bed until 4am :/

It's so awesome seeing the insane pace of progress on these ships. Feel bad for SN10 but we all knew the legs were shit, this current design tends to crumble on landing (see SN5 and 6) I think SN15 is the SSP with the new more robust leg design so it might survive a successful landing. we shall see... amazing work from SpaceX as usual.

    Exactly.

If you look at the thing as it landed there was already a fire on one side. You can see the yellow flame.
When the Raptors are switched off there's nearly always some flame under the skirt, however this time there seemed to be a lot more and it only got worse for a while on landing.

SpaceX more than likely blowing up another prototype today, this prototype is the first of a new design with loads of tweaks and fixes from the previous gen, higher chance of landing this time. Fingers crossed.

That was cool. Shame about the loss of transmission when it was up there.

I went to bed when it looked like a scrub - glad to see they had a successful soft landing!

Watch the official spaceX feed on youtube for the starship launch and landing, much better cameras.

The best official description I've seen of it is that it will be like a small plane crash, just one that's 100 miles long.

Best part for me is the background noise at 12:55 when the announcer says they have landed, you can hear some cheering, must be a relief for the team there.

The Earth's surface is 70% water....it was always going to be over water.
