McIlroy's doing his very best to fuck it. Was hoping for some Fowler magic but he's doing exactly the same.

Speith is on fire at the mo. Wouldn't surprise me if he nicks it.

I passed out for the back 9, woke up just as he was knocking in the putt. Won me £50 so not going to grumble!

    "Freddie, Freddie, Freddie..."

Cobwebs blown off the Betfair account,
    NowTV voucher ready to activate,
Work warned of bleary eyes on Monday...

...It's the best sporting event of the year!!

Waiting to the second round to heavily back an outright winner, though I've had a small dabble on Jason Day already. Spieth seems massively overpriced even given his dire form, as does Molinari, but I can't see beyond Rory right now. Dechambeau could be on for a decent run for an e/w finish. Cabrera has my backing for a top 20 finish.

But it wouldn't be Masters weekend without backing Freddie :)

Cor, look at the three groups last out on round 1:

18:38 Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Jason Day (Aus)
18:49: Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose (Eng), Justin Thomas
19:00: Jordan Spieth, Paul Casey (Eng), Brooks Koepka

I donít think McIlroy putts well enough to win at Augusta, his wedge game is appalling and he always throws one bad round in. However he does remember how to putt one tournament in every 50 so I suppose he has a chance

Woods has a good chance despite his age but Iíll probably back Rickie Fowler. He always contends in Majors and at 30 heís the right age

Yeah heís a decent bet. I think Rahm will win it one day but itís still a bit too soon, he makes massive mental errors when the pressure is on

I read that the last 14 winners all broke their Major Ďduckí at Augusta so you definitely donít need to have won a Major before to be considered

Chokeahontas. It goes to show though how far bombing it 320+ yards is in golf nowadays. Drive for show, putt for dough is bullshit.

I know this is hardly sticking my neck out but I think it'll be someone's maiden Major victory this weekend

Heavy rain this week may favour McIlroy. The greens will be tough but not glass, while the fairways won't roll as much so carry distance will be important, which Rory comfortably in leads the averages. Thunderstorms predicted for the weekend!

Some good first round scores there. Happy so far with 2 of my picks... DJ and Koepka. Rose, less so but always back Justin. So close to seeing a couple of aces too.

Freddie and Angel have bombed which is sad, but Day and Dechambeau will give me a run for the weekend. Luckily I have to be home for our scaffolding coming down on Monday, which means I've accidentally got Sunday night free :)
