Will this lens work with DSLRs?

I'm new to DSLRs and I'm not sure which lens work with which cameras. I have a Sigma 28-200 which up until this point I've used with a Canon EOS 3000 film camera.

Does anyone know if this will work with DSLRs? And if so, which makes? I'm considering getting an Olympus E-420.

    Cheers.

You need to find out what the fitting on your Sigma lens is.

If it's a Canon EOS mount then it will only work on Canon digital EOS cameras, unless you buy some kind of Canon to Olympus mount adapter (which probably doesn't even exist).

Sounds like it's probably a Canon EF mount, so yeah, will work on a Canon DLSR and not much else.

Usually with companies like Sigma and Tamron they make the versions of the same lenses in both Canon and Nikon fittings. Just get the correct one for your camera.

Why not get a canon dslr?

To be brutally frank, I wouldn't make my camera buying purchase based entirely on already owning one fairly low end Sigma lens.

Not that there's anything wrong with Canons mind you, but if you want the Olympus I would still go for it.

    ^^

Flog the lens, buy the camera you want and then get some better lenses.

I might do, I just wanted to find out which DSLRs my lens would work with first.

    I'll probably get a Canon 450D.

I'm going to continue using it mainly with my film camera but I'd like the option of mounting it on the DSLR occasionally when I want to take macro images.
