Been out of this for a while but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with GW2. WvW(vWvWv...) in particular curried my favour. I never got into the story much though so all them events and shit don't quite get my boxers in a twist; they often annoy me than anything else (Lion's Arch being, well, gone for example) Anyhow, is there anything for a day one adopter who's been away for over a year to get back into the game for? And did I just formulate a question ending in a preposition? |

Oh could just as well be back now but it was destroyed as part of the story arch involving that pirate lass at one point. Like I said it's been over a year since I've logged on.

Registered 11 years agoStarted playing this again for the first time since Launch... still a great game and very refreshing still compared to most other MMO's. I still think it's a lot more forward thinking than even WildStar which feels like a carbon copy of WoW in many ways, yet GW2 never did in my mind.
But yeah... it's sort of become a game you need to keep playing in order to understand apparently! Lots of locations I remember from my original play through now gone due to some big epic story line event I obviously missed. -

GW2 is terrific. Other than I didn't want to do anything at cap. Which is kind of a problem. -

I was the same, there is stuff to do though. Fractals are like mini-raids that you run one after the other. If you like crafting you could go in for crafting ascended / legendary weapons (I don't personally). PvP is also thoroughly excellent. Or level and alt. I only play for 1-2 week bursts every few months but there's loads to do if you're so inclined.

Scarlett destroyed it at the end of Season 1. You can still play through that whole season at some point, when they make all of the episodes avaliable, but *sigh*, it'll be on the Gemstore.
Season 2 started in July and is just about to take a mid-season break as we have the anniversary week then the feature pack in September which will probably bring about quite a few pvp changes. The last one added the wadrobe system, which is excellent. -

Registered 8 years agoNope. Another MMO that's died on its arse. -
Has it died, or is it just not phenomenally successful? -

Registered 9 years agoI don't think it's died at all. ANet are still making a decent about of dosh out of it, especially now it's launched in China. The fact that they're pumping out the updates like there's no tomorrow shows that they want to move it forward, and there are always plenty of people online. As good a time to jump in as ever, and it gets better every time I log in. -

Registered 7 years agoWith the server merge on PvE there is always masses of players running around on the later level zones.Peak Friday night Desolation has a queue on every map I don't even bother going in to WvW.
I cannot get the fascination of MMO players that once they leave an MMO they think or hope it is dead. -

I was talking more about players on official forums. They say they have left the game. And say the game will die or is dying.I just don't understand it.You play a game, leave, why hang around an official forums to moan about it.The same happens for Battlefield on Battlelog forums.

Registered 7 years agoGW2 isn't dead at all. They could do with an expansion, but they have just recently opened up a new zone in Drytop.
My guild still has well over 100 logged in at any time, so maybe it just seems busier to me. -

Registered 7 years agoHaving jumped back into GW2 only a couple of weeks ago, I can report that player population is excellent.
In those two weeks I've levelled a Norn Engineer from zero to eighty and every zone has bustled. I've yet to solo any event - always players just around the corner.
The games' as alive as it's ever been. And I've played it since launch.
EDIT: Desolation server.

Registered 11 years agoI havnt played this since pretty much a few months after launch, then I forgot my password, then I couldn't find the email with the serial to unlock it. Now I have, It seems ive missed loads (lions arch is destroyed???) im thinking of starting afresh and deleting my old chars.
I just don't know if I can be arsed unless its going to be well worth it. -
I keep toying with going back to it. Really not sure if I can be bothered or not though as I'll probably have to invest quite a lot of time before I even know whether doing so was a good decision or not.
