@Blakester yes I would have rather beat Liverpool and pretty much secured cl football than play another 2 games in a competition that we can't win. What difference does 1 more round make?

Pretty frustrating night - even just following bbc updates as I don't have BT Sport

However we were never going to win the thing so it's not a result that will annoy me for too long. Pissed off right now though, especially with how negative our approach sounded (not that it came as a surprise)

Why is that, finishing back in the top 4 should have been any United fans realistic goal for this year. Beating Liverpool has practically guaranteed it now.. (Although not if they play like tonight too much more).

Iíve no love for Utd, but it sounds weird when their fans says theyíve no hope of winning the CL.

No, your targets would have been to win the league and the champions league and the FA cup.

You're Man United, you spent a fuck ton, and you have Jose Mourinho as manager. If you're settling for CL qualification and getting knocked out at home by Seville then something is very wrong.

United like any club have no divine right to win the CL. Even Alex Ferguson only won it twice in his 25+ years at the club

No one is settling for anything but I'd say Uniteds chances of winning the CL when the season started was less than 1%

    Now it's 0% 😃

The season before we weren't in the champions league and didn't get top 4, I would say it is probably your expectations that are off.

@HarryPalmer well it's not but he's the greatest manager United have ever had and he still failed to win it the majority of time

Winning the CL is hard. You don't go into a season with an average squad expecting to win it

For fans to think they have no chance to win once they have got jnto the qf speaks volumes of how far the club has fallen along with fan expectations.

Think about Liverpool winning in 2005 and getting to the final in 2007. Pretty much every year the favourites come from spain or germany, but other teams do win.

I by no means expect Liverpool to win it, but I damned well think we can if we play our A game for at least 3 of the final 5 games...

I'm aware how shit you've been - but aside from the club's own view of where you should be, you don't employ Jose Mourinho and spend the money you have spent without the primary objective being to win major trophies in the very short term.

Hehe, he had to be on tv, didnít he.

What a depressingly negative tie that was though. Piss poor from Jose and Sanchez was atrocious. If someone can explain to me why Rashford and him swapped wings after how well Rashford did at the weekend Iíd be astonished. Bizarre selection tonight.

It was the last 16 mate. Not that it takes away from your point. Got a good a draw as we couldíve hoped for and fucked it up playing very negative football

Of course the objective is to win it but you don't expect to win it. Seville are through - they probably believe that they can win it

However their chances are almost zero, it would be a miracle if they won it

Both city and Liverpool have a small chance but again they shouldn't expect to win it - even if they bring their "A Game"

    How long is Mourinho's contract?

They can wait three years. After all no one has any right to enjoy watching football. Misery builds character.

Sanchez is one of the worst players I've ever seen recently. Looks like a league one player plonked into a too flight team. Positioning is awful, can't keep the ball, passing is wank, does nothing on goal. Arsenal are well shot of him.

They've won the Europa League 5 times in the last 12 years and could have beaten Man U by quite a few tonight. They probably won't win it but It would not be a miracle.

@reddevil93 i know this was last 16 some of your fellow fans above were saying losing tonight makes no difference. I'd argue that being in the last 8 entitles all to think they can win it.

Mourinho needs to deliver next season or that'll be it. I'd say utd have improved but nowhere near enough. That being said, with a few astute signings this could become a very good team.
