Yeah, with what appears to be a title challenge so far I really feared what the europa league would do to that effort!
It's weird, there really shouldn't be any difference, perhaps a bit more travelling in the EL. There's still the same recover time, for the most part. The knockout games shouldn't be as taxing as the group games as there is likely to be less far flung places to go to.

    @Dougs

2 extra games for starters, then there is the Thursday / Sunday thing so you are potentially going into a lot of games playing catch up if your rivals win which creates additional pressure.

Still like the competition though, and would rather be in it than out of Europe all together.

But for the most part, we've been playing on a Sunday for yonks so always playing catch up. We must only have had a few Sat games every season for about 20 years. And once the knock out rounds kick in, it's relatively infrequent even with the 2 extra games. Logically, it shouldn't have that big an impact... But it does seem to, so maybe I'm talking bollocks! Wonder if there's any research out there...

I think the group games of the EL are bobbins ut otherwise it's a great cup.

BBC did some analysis on it a while back but I think the format has changed since.

Itís just the sum of all those little things. Slightly more games. Slightly longer to travel. Slightly less recovery time. Slightly less money. Slightly less point. Slightly more embarrassing when you get bad results. Slightly more soul destroying when you see your arch rival playing like gods in the Camp Nou.

    All that sort of stuff.

Speaking of playing catch up, we were drawing 1 each in the Camp Nou years ago... And beating them at home. Enjoy, as it won't last. All good things come to an end and all that.

Allison is a decent keeper but that Ďsaveí was hit straight at him from a yard away. He got lucky.

My assessments of goalkeepers are always spot on.

I didnít think the save was amazing but he did a decent Schmeical spread for it. And it was a hugely important save

United are so poor. I cannot wait for Jose to be given the bullet. This is fucking agonising shit, we must be the worst team to watch anywhere right now.

Citylol. Over a hundred million pounds of attacking talent 3 v 1 against the keeper and fluffed it.

No easy draws. Dortmund isnít the hardest although they are extremely good this year, and they owe us revenge for last year.

Think we'll either get absolutely twatted or scrape through and buy us another few months in limbo.

Either way, might as well enjoy it as it might be our last proper big tie with something riding on it for a while.

Not really been following Dortmund this year, but seems like a decent draw for Spurs. Think Liverpool will just about have enough but don't think Uts will get past PSG.

Theyíre top of the BL by some margin. Much harder draw than Bayern on current form, who are quite Man Unitedy this year.

I think Dortmund are top of the Budesliga this year, taking advantage of Bayern's shitness

Dortmund are playing great football this season, they're not just top because Bayern are bad. If it all goes to form, I see them turning Spurs over quite easily over two legs. Out of the 4 qualifying PL teams, only Man City have looked strong, while the rest have struggled.

Spurs and Man U have fucked it. Fancy Liverpool and City to get through though.
