Does anyone know anywhere online that I can get a cheap CD player for my car?

I'm tired of listening to the radio and endlessly skipping around trying to find a tune that I like.

I usually use Car Audio Direct good company.

Argos? I know they have single disc players for under a hundred quid now.

yeah, Argos is a good play to start. You can pick them up fairly cheaply these days. You can even get some good deals on 6/10 CD autochangers.

    http://www.hendoncarstereo.co.uk/home.htm

They will price match anyone - including UK internet sites.

Best little greasy spoon just down the road from it as well.

One good thing about Car Audio Direct is all the actual prices are displayed so there is no vat or postage and packaging added on later to stiff you.

Check Halfords also. They'll do free fitting if you spend enough. You could buy 2 different CD players from them at one point, the lower model + fitting was more costly than the better model with fitting for free, which always amused.

Halfords claim to price match anywhere but duly pissed me about so much that we ended up driving to Hendon and got it fitted.

I got mine done locally. Car alarm fitted 2 weeks after I got the car. Stereo moved from old car to new car the following week. Stereo stolen 2 weeks later whilst on a visit to northampton. New stereo fitted 3 weeks later.

It wasn't the most pleasent few weeks I can assure you. But the eventual outcome was a much better headunit which also allowed for the sub to be connected to non-fading preouts rather than passed through the rear speaker outputs. Giving a better quality and more controllable sound.

I have a single cd panasonic head unit that's been sitting in my wardrobe for about 3 years.

    Want it?

    Tell me more about it.

    Does it play CD-R?

    How much?

Damn Halfords are expensive though, the equivalent CD Changer and Head Unit that set me back a little over 200 quid would have been at least 70 quid more expensive from Halfords.

    Um, it's fairly basic.
    Has am, fm, lw radio
    Single slot cd.

Not sure about the CD-R. I'd say probably it does, but i can't be too sure.

As for how much, how about postage costs?
Still have the manual somewhere _i think_. I'll have a scrummage around thursday night if you want more details, but it won't be before, cos i'm away from home during the week.

Yeah, when I got my autochanger i looked at a few in Halfords. They are quite good at the really cheap end, but the higher you go, the less competitive they seem to be.

i think you'll find that it will play them. Most of them do. But, even the expensive ones have problems with some brands of CD-R.
