    I'll have another go on survival mode this evening- i did also notice last time that they've expanded the range of cooking options and raw materials to cook with. That alone makes it worth a go, cooking always seemed pointless in the vanilla game.

    Just picked this up in the sale to have a tit about with having played quite a bit of the way through on the 360. Are there any ESSENTUAL mods I need to be looking at on PS4?

    OK I've just started playing this through on the 360, I put a hundred or so hours into Oblivion and my boy started playing Oblivion which reignited my desire to play Skyrim, I have to say having maybe played it for about 15hours that I'm finding it dull, clunky controls and interface, dismal scenery, despite hundreds of positive reviews, does it get better with a bit more time or shall I just start a new Oblivion game? This is very important.

    Shame freddy had to be the one to go.

    @freddymercurystwin its always the same sort of hue, but the story gets better and there are tons of quests. The whole skills, magic and shouts are a lot of fun.

    I'm a bit biased as I've played hundreds of hours and I'm back for more. First couple of location's are a bit dull. That said, 15 hours should be enough to get to good stuff, so maybe it's not for you.

    I didn't add any mods, as they prevent you getting any trophies.
    So, are you interested in trophies..?

    Follower Trap Safety is a pretty useful one , it's a ballache having them get trapped behind those swinging door things .

    It does get a little better the higher your skills are developed and the better you understand the game mechanics, but in my opinion it doesn't change too much from what you've got in the early game. And if you don't like the scenery, tbh I'm not sure this is the right game for you.

    Man Iím stupid. Was playing on switch, thought Iíd be clever and hit the story out the way, but after taking the dragon ride at that point... realised I was way under levelled and under equipped, with no save to fall back on.
    Rage deleted my save and will start over. Remembering level 10 is not enough to be finishing the game!!
  • Deleted user 26 March 2018 07:00:50
    :) in level 18 and only just killed my third dragon. I'm pretty much ignoring the main story and just pottering about in back streets and dingy caves. All that heroic political stuff can wait.

    @freddymercurystwin

    I don't know how you can complain about clunky controls, interface and dismal scenery and then suggest starting a game of Oblivion!

    @Scimarad Oblivionsí interface is not without its faults I would definitely agree with but my biggest gripe is how theyíve done the hotkeys in Skyrim, it worked perfectly well in Oblivion, in Skyrim itís a mess.

    @Decks I just kind of went with a lot of the recommended ones. There's some big good ones like the populated civil war, and ones that add dungeons and shit. Some nice little aesthetic ones like the one that adds wind to trees and grass, another that puts fallen trees over rivers, better AI. Just have a look and see what tickles your fancy. I've put dense grass and big forests on too but think the forests one is causing a bit of slow down near the Jurgen Windcaller quest area so will prb remove it.

    Unread Books Glow, Rich Merchants and whichever one stops followers from getting killed by vampires and werewolves were my goto mod essentials. I also enjoyed Elemental Destruction Magic and Magical College of Winterhold, but they're obviously only worthwhile if you're using magic in your playthrough.

    Also, Ars Metallica was great for the simple ability to break down more of the junk you pick up from dungeon runs into useful crafting items, rather than having to sell/store it.

    Some of the graphical modes a pretty impressive. The ELE interior lighting one makes a huge difference.

    Can anyone that's played Skyrim VR tell me how the controls work? Is locomotive movement vommit-inducing or have they implemented measures to reduce that?

    @quadfather Ha, I haven't been back to Skyrim in a while but I know I'd pick up right where I left off, no probs. Seem to remember I was just starting the Winterhold questlines with some modded Elemental Destruction magic and mage armour...

    You would just get straight back into it :) I like the winterhold quests, quite fun. I'm just mopping up all the side shit (down to 4!) And have just started the dawnguard vampire dlc quests before I go with the main plot. I am determined to be able to 1 shot everything :) the deathbrand armour set really helps if you dual wield as well - can 1 shot centurion guardians now (in sneak mode).

    Great when a game clicks. Next year might be the time I show this some love. Have played around 5 hours on 360 and zero hours on the xb1 version.
    How many hours do you think you have put in ?

    @DUFFMAN5

    Hm, difficult to tell as I left it alone for a good while. I'd guess at about 100-200 hours.

    It's the first time that I've finished every side quest except the ones that loop forever so I've got no choice now but to either do the main quest or search for remaining unexplored places. Dunno what I'm going to do when I finish it!

    @quadfather

    Great stuff. Does ESO interest you. Have a couple of mates play it and say that it is really good and a total different game to what was released. Might be worth a go.
