Italy. Peroni and birra moretti are lush. Although I like ashai? And I'm about to try my first ever Sapporo which I expect to be nice as it is £3 per can!! so maybe Japan also. Generally hate American although I love me some MGD. |

Italian beer is flavourless piss, much like American export beer. Germany is where it's at. Weissbier is fucking ace. The single best pint I ever had came from a pub in Greenwich that I can't remember the name of (it's the one where Nelson went, or something like that), and it was a weissbier I also can't remember the name of. But I'd actually murder someone to get hold of it again.

Registered 17 years agoPeroni us one of those drinks that seem to give me worse than usual hangovers. It's probably confirmation bias on my part but whenever I drink it I suffer the next day. -
It's because it's toxic chemicals that are beer flavoured, like Stella.
I think Weihenstephaner is my favourite beer that's readily available everywhere. And German beer names are fantastic for shouting loudly in a German accent.
BRING ME UNT KRISTALWEISS IN UNT STEINER -
I don't find that with Peroni. Stella hell yes, tastes of pure chemical.. Becks is nice, tiger was lush when brewed in Asia. Hate it when they change to brewing in Luton or something. Just seems to lose it. Now estrella is nice but my Spanish friends tell me in Spain it is seen as one of their worse beers.
Oh oh love Carlton cold and vb pretty good too. -
Sapporo nice, too American tasting though. As for the can, well it is massive in my hands. -
Call me a big gay but you can't beat a nice weak-ish French beer. -

Registered 17 years agoThe only I time I've ever drunken a dark larger it was a German beer. It was lovely and therefore Germany wins. Can't beat England for its ales though.

Czech beer is delicious. -
To be honest, the best beers in each respective country are the ones that don't really get exported to others en-mass. Get thee to a specialist beer shop and have a thorough browse. -
I drink Czech beer that has been especially imported. Obviously not one brewed by some guy in his shed that is keeping that secret to himself but still it's a lot better than most others out there that the general public are going to know. -
Best beer I ever had was a strawberry beer from Bar T'at in Ilkey.
Couldn't handle more than 2 pints of it, though. It gets too sickly. -

Registered 15 years agoI gather every country has beer that ranges from great to terrible. To say "I like German beer" doesn't really mean anything - it's not like the entire country makes one beer. -
Yeah, but there are still specific regionalities you can apply broadly. If you say "German beer", most people will know what sort of beer you're talking about. -
Sapporo okay, too American tasting.
The can is awesome though although far too big for my hands. -

If you can't find anything special, Tyskie and zywiec is not too bad

That's the one! I think it was a guest beer on rotation, though, so not much chance of it reappearing. -

Registered 20 years agoI'm currently drinking Bavaria beer from (of all places) the Netherlands. As you'd guess from the name it's a German style beer and more than quaffable. It's also available for 88p a 0.5l can in Lidl's at present, which is the main reason I'm drinking it.
Edit: 88p a can, not 75p. Drunken maths is not my forte.

And anyone mentioning Japan or Italy have clearly just begun exploring the wonderful world of beer.
Good first steps. Don't stay there for too long though because you're missing out. -
