OK guys I need to know what the hell is happening here. I'm hoping someone here is knowledgable enough to tell me. So, I googled my name (like you do) and found a *ton* of results. Here is the google search. My name is in double quotes and everything. Seriously, 672 web pages have my exact name on it - and I have a pretty unique name. Most of the sites are pretty strange. They look like this. My name is among thousands all listed between link brackets. WHY?! And more importantly, how the hell do I fix this? Can someone help? What has been happening? :'( |

Registered 13 years agoDO NOT VISIT any of the sites listed in google or anywhere else if you're a little unsure about your PC security. a large slice of them are pushing rogue antivirus, or browser exploits along with the more commonplace spam / viagra junk.
unfortunately scumbags have harvested your name from somewhere (of course, it could just be coincidence) and used it for their endless spamposting across forums and linkdumps. they needed a name to go with the postings, and yours is it. there really isn't a great deal you can do about it. -

Registered 13 years agoyour friends would only be responsible if they've fired up something like XRumer, entered your name into the "spam the world with this" fields then posted those messages across the web pointing to sites they've not only created but also hijacked with malicious files.
trust me, it ain't your friends. in time, the spam results will fade from search (as the sites either get cleaned up or go offline), but for the moment you might want to advise relatives not to google you.
/ edit - yep, could well be facebook if you have it indexed in google and / or your name is searchable. they've grabbed it from somewhere and FB is a good place to start. -
change your name to w9gfo and see what happens -

Another explanation is that trawler bots picked up your name from some other site and added it into the colossal list of keywords they use for adware sites. -
