I played this at the EG show last week. Decidely average at this point.

Kirby, on the other hand, looked "cock"

A new GoldenEye trailer - 'The Story'

I think it looks like a little bit of a throwaway evenings entertainment but I do hope it turns out to be a decent FPS.

The Wii, despite the fantastic motion-controls, doesn't have a decent FPS outside of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption... yes, I know it isn't a pure FPS as such but you catch my drift.

    Please be good!

The call of duty duo or red steel 2 not interest you? Definately keeping an eye on this especially to see how the online multiplayer turns out!

Both the CODs are decent, with great controls.

Aren't the controls for this fucked up, some stupid shit to do with replicating the feel of the N64 controller? Or is that just one set up?

Accordint to IGN's hands on with the wiimote and nunchuck it plays just fine. The beef they had is that all hands-on until this point have been with the classic controller and were unsure why this was the case, but wiimote controls are definately in.

Out of interest, with the new Bond, is there a new 006? Or is it Sean Bean still?
  • Deleted user 18 October 2010 01:54:01
    There's a new 006 too.

That little known fact should probably be advertised a bit more.

Classic mode sounds ace, hate all this hiding to recharge health in FPS games.

I have the game not played the single player yet but the Multiplayer is so much fun. N64 days all over again. Realy enjoying it.

Gametrailers.com video review - mid-watch reaction: this game looks great! They've used the most iconic N64 elements, but completely rebuilt the locations, pacing and so on. On their comments, it looks like it has a formidable solution for adding replay value. Multiplayer looks like it falls slightly shy of the bar, though. Overall, I'm impressed with what Eurocom did (that I've seen) here.

Dead Space Extraction was joint developed by Visceral and Eurcom - I think Visceral did most of the work (otherwise I too would be extremely excited indeed by the prospect of this GoldenEye remake).

Visceral did the story, the bulk of the game was developed by Eurocom.

What an awesome and completely appropriate title sequence! Best I've seen in a while!

I was initially worried about this game after seeing TV adverts mostly filled with shots of people sitting on sofas playing the game, rather than shots of the game itself, but reviews seem to be favourable so far and it seems they have integrated the new Bond cast into this game well.

I don't even own a Wii so I don't know why I even care, but still.

The thing I didn't like about Nightfire was how it loudly broadcast what to do. I remember a grapple point which was either boldly painted in yellow, or had a big yellow arrow pointing at it. Kind of ruined the atmosphere for me. Especially when Goldeneye seemed to be more subtle about where certain items were - like where you had to attach the modem in the Dam level. Or where the tank keys were in the subsequent level.

Need the EG review to justify having bought this yesterday.

Not man enough to make my own decisions.

I'll post my impressions later, you only need to listen to me 'cos I know.

Single-player is great, an 8 or a 9 for me, a bit too much like CoD sometimes but it's fun trying to be stealthy or going Rambo, better than I thought it would be and enough nods to the original game to satisfy nostalgia.
The game is too dark though, it's hard to see where the enemies are and the music is bland compared to the original's excellent tunes.
Splitscreen multi is shite, the levels are shite compared to the originals, haven't tried online multi yet but I think it'll be good judging by Youtube videos I've seen.
I recommend this game even just for the single-player.
