Yep, had it pre-ordered for a while. Im actually managing to snag it for under a tenner by using the Shopto points I accumulated with my Wii U order.

Registered 17 years agoOh dear, I was looking forward to playing this despite the disappointing reviews, but Metro have really laid into it.

Think I might hang on for a week or so and wait for some forum impressions first now. -

Registered 14 years agoWell, if anyone buys this and immediately regrets it, I've got NSMB2 with your name on it!
Well, as long as your name's Mario, that is.

Registered 17 years agoJust put a couple of hours into it, so far so good. Looks great in 3D, combat is fun and sticker-collecting is addictive. Found it hard to stop playing, actually - possibly because there seems to be no save points in the levels themselves, which is a tad annoying. -

Registered 17 years agoSurprised at the lack of activity in the thread, but I guess some of the reviews have put people off. I'm about ten hours in and think it's been mostly great so far. The stickers give it a novel approach to turn-based combat, and the game seems quite open-ended - you're usually left to explore and work things out for yourself. This is a good thing imo, makes it much more satisfying - there's no hand-holding at all - but I can see how some might think it's too vague and frustrating.
It's not without its issues, sure, but the 4/10 review from Metro was incredibly harsh.

I'd probably be playing this now if the Wii U didn't exist. I'll get it eventually! -

Registered 16 years agoThe effort put into the UK localisation is great - the description of the pocket watch in the museum in the US version:
While this thing can theoretically manipulate time, every effort to use it to go back and avert that unfortunate chowder incident has failed.
And in the UK version:
While this thing can theoretically manipulate time, every effort to use it to go back and avert that unfortunate lamb hotpot incident has failed.

Registered 17 years agoThe attention to detail in the game is very good, as you'd expect. Some nice little easter eggs and references in there.
Anyway, I finished this last week, solid 8/10 from me. Drops points thanks to some annoying sections and one or two niggles, but also sort of makes up for it with bags of charm. -

Registered 15 years agoAbout 5 or 6 hours in, absolutely loving it! Although, what's the point in battling? Seems to be just for coins as there's no levelling, and I'm rolling in coins as it is. -

Registered 17 years agoYeah, all you get from battles are coins (and the occasional sticker). Coins are quite important however, as you need them to purchase stickers for certain situations (and boss battles).
It's a slightly flawed system, admittedly. Maybe they could have taken out the turn-based combat entirely, but then that would have defeated the point of having stickers in the first place... -

Registered 13 years agoI find the timing of the critical hits, especially on the hammer stickers, could do with some sort of indicator or something. Other than that I like it, but it hasn't grabbed me like previous entries in the series have. -

Registered 17 years agoThere is an indicator, press when there's a star above Mario for critical hits. -
