| Was pretty good if not stellar. But for a one off special will take it. |

Registered 16 years agoWorth watching again, there were some lovely little touches and nods in there.

Registered 17 years agoI don't regret the time I spent watching it, but I rather wish they'd just done a 19 th century special instead of shoehorning it into their continuity.
I had fun though, overall -

Registered 14 years agoProbably the weakest episode of Sherlock yet imo, but that still leaves it better than most TV. -

Plot wise maybe, but for me it had some genuine laugh out loud moments. Also Cumberbatch and Freeman were grand as always. -

Registered 15 years agoNeedlessly over complicated plotting, shoddy editing and pacing, and generally annoying writing aside, what's with the gargantuan amount of melodramatic site?
The show was a cool modern twist on classic Sherlock Holmes stories, not Moffat and Gattis' fanfic wankfest. -

Registered 16 years agoI thought this was going to be the beginning of an epic 3 parter, that was just well odd. Watsons wife wasnt even close to being believable as a super spy. To base an episode around her teasing that it'll be moriarty until the reveal is slightly mental, especially as this could easily be the last 3 episodes. What a waste. -

Registered 17 years agoOn the plus side, at least she's now dead. Are spoilers really necessary given its aired? -

Registered 15 years agoHer dying was the best bit and gives me hope that it might go back to them solving twisty cases with occasional funny interactions with the supporting cast.
Sadly the rest of the episode was so shit I probably won't bother finding out. -
Mary keeping on lying to John got quite old.
And so is that whole "Miss me?" thing.
Kinda boring if they keep dancing around and do nothing with it. -
Yeah that was shit. -

Registered 17 years agoJust a side note; I thought I noticed a poster of the new villain on the side of the bus shelter... But it was only a fraction of a second so I might have imagined it. -

Registered 6 years agoI didn't think it was shit, but I'm really pleased there's a chance the whole Mary super spy thing can fuck off now. Never felt real, and was never as fun as Sherlock vs the Bad. -

Registered 18 years agoFrom the opening scene to the last it was bollocks, with the biggest surprise being that I didn't fuck it off after ten minutes.
I've never been the biggest fan, but some of the better episodes in the early series were top notch. When it started getting all meta, and desperately backtracking the knocking off of Moriarty in every conceivable way it properly shit the bed.
I'd love to meet the type of fan that this shit is being aimed at, so I can punch them on the nose.

It's odd. isn't it, that certain creators don't understand why the thing they made is good? George Lucas for one, but Moffat for another. I'm sure I'll watch the rest of the episode some day (thanks for the spoiler by the way, but I made the choice to read the thread knowing there was a chance of one, so it's on me).

Registered 18 years agoWhat did I spoil? My Moriarty reference goes back to episodes that aired two or three years ago? It was a comment on the show as a whole, not this episode. -
Mary dying. It was unspoilered somewhere in the thread.
Edit;
Duffking's post.

Registered 18 years agoYeah, but I didn't spoil anything was my point. The comment (coming after a quote of what I wrote) seemed aimed at me, but yeah probably meant the thread in general. .gif)
Here's another spoiler though: it had all the dramatic weight of a slippery turd. -
It was certainly one of the weaker episodes, but there were hints throughout of the Sherlock I love amongst all that mawkishness. Hoping for something a little more focused next week and, more importantly, a little more cerebral. -

Registered 10 years agoYeah, that was pants.
The drama was patchy at best, the spy stuff wasn't convincing, and some of the performance choices were downright odd (Martin Freeman's weird grief grunts and that terrible scene on the plane).
Worst of all, the showrunners have convinced themselves that the audience care more about the fanwank soap operatics than Sherlock investigating anything interesting. -

YOU SHOULD HAVE MADE THAT MORE CLEAR! THINK OF MY FEELINGS!
Actually, think of anything but this turd of an episode.
