I'm a little worried about the 64-player reveal.
As a console player, I assume the maps are designed with 64 players in mind - so how empty will they appear, if it's 24 or even 32-player on consoles?
It wont be a problem I imagine they will design the maps in such a way where only parts of the map are opened up depending on player numbers. -

WTF's Nothing wrong with conquest on Bad Company.
I assume this will have pad support on the PC? Only reason I ask is that a mate of mine has RSI and can only play PC games using a pad. -
Amazing how the thread turns around with just one post. From PC player whining how it'll be 'console dumbed down' to 'fuck yeah, screw you console losers' -

Jets! Prone! 64 players (on PC)! Battlefield is back.
Other details have emerged, according to GAF, are that explosions can knock you down and Paris, Tehran and New York will feature. So, assumption time, the factions will be those of BF2 (and expansions) rather than BC2 so US/EU vs China/MEC.
Hopefully it will be France vs the Free World. It's about time a game gave us the chance to give the frogs a good kicking. -
Dirty money theiving EA better market this right so that can well and truely stick a knife up the arse of that other dirty money theiving company Actiblizzard. -

It works, don't get me wrong but Bad Company is a lite version of proper conquest.
Proper Conquest has commanders overseeing the battle, directing the squads on the ground, spotting snipers and squads that get behind enemy lines.
It's a much much more immersive experience getting orders from on high. -
Oooo! That does sound rather sexual. -

Registered 11 years agoYes while conquest on bad company works on some maps that aren't just bases in a straight line it works much better on the earlier games as you need more than 12 players a side to make it works.
24 players is ok for rush but for a good conquest game they need to get at least 32 players sorted, just hope they've increased the player count to at least that on consoles. -

I wonder how the hell they're gonna do New York with destructible environments -

Registered 10 years agoI believe they practiced the "sonic boom" in Battlefield BC2: Vietnam on Hill 137, where you had jets flying by every now and then. Sounded awesome. -
64 players on the PC, prone, more destructibility
EA/Dice if it's all true then all is forgiven! I never really wanted 1943 or Onslaught anyway -

It seems somewhat pointless trying to kill 12 guys or less with an F-16. -

Registered 16 years agoDICE have stated they can't support more than 24 players with Battlefield. Other games support more but don't have destruction changing the environment on a regular basis, something that needs to be sent to all players and they don't have enough bandwidth to do that with more players on PSN or Live. -

From Gustav Hallings blog about '43 but the same restrictions obviously appy :
Beside these design decisions there are technical limitations. There are very restricted bandwidth limits on the consoles and we are networking a lot more than 24 players:
- 24 players are networked
- Almost as many physics driven vehicles with movable and destroyable parts
- All destruction, if a wall is being destroyed on one client we need to update it on all the others, otherwise we could end up with players hiding behind non-existent walls.
If we removed all destruction and all our vehicles we could have more players. But no other game gives you the wide gaming experience we have!
