I'm just saying - if there are more vehicles then you'll probably want a higher player count. You can't set an MCOM whilst driving a tank... |

.. or have I misunderstood? -

Registered 11 years agoSorry, I meant bf2, not bc2. Wanted to know what was actually different from bc2 and bfbc2. I've been playing bc2 loads recently and really enjoying it, only jus occurred to me that it's not bad company 3 coming out. Wandering if it's gonna be loads different.
That was a mouthful!
.. That's what she said.
/Sigh -
It's different in the engine and that you can destroy the buildings and stuff. It's the exact same awesome formula just updated in bc2. -

Ahh ok so it'll more likely be the all the same formula but again updated. I love the little things like having to take into account distance when sniping etc. Hope things like tht stay the same. -
Original Battlefield games were conquest only, but they were on a much bigger scale and had a lot more people (although I don't know exactly how many you can have on BF:BC2 PC) also they had no destruction. -

Registered 13 years agoThe limit is 32 on PC. Get's a bit sparse on maps like Heavy Metal. It'd be nice to see 64 player servers again for BF3. -

Registered 13 years agoIf I remember correctly, the official strategy back when Bad Company originally came out was for a Battlefield to be tailored for console - meaning smaller wars as a whole with less focus on vehicular combat and more focus on infantry combat. -

Is there any difference between BF3 and Bad Company - or is it a continuation of the latter? -

Registered 13 years agoNo one really knows any proper details yet do they? I think the assumption is that they'll probably build frostbite 2.0
Edit* just found this.. http://wccftech.com/2010/12/31/ba/
A recent tweet by DICE developer Johan Andersson claims that the upcoming Battlefield 3 FPS Game will be based on DICE’s latest Frostbite 2.0 which is primarily a DX 11 Engine and also that it won’t support DirectX9 which is a bad news for XP users. Here’s the tweet:
A tweet by DICE developer Johan Andersson:
Frostbite 2 is primarily developed for DX11. XP & DX9 is _not_ supported, 64-bit OS is recommended. Lots of time to upgrade if you havent!
There’s still alot of time left in the release of the game so users with windows XP and DirectX9 Graphics cards need to upgrade to a better platform. The news doesn’t confirms if the game will support DirectX 10 but it most probably will. According to a Survey on Steam, Most of the PC games have switched to Windows7 and a DX10/11 GPU and the trend if remains like this then upto 50-75% will have updated rigs by the end of 2011. -

Registered 15 years agoYup. LE. It's a bit much just to play what could be a short-lived beta. -
It will be really interesting to see what they do with BF3. I'm assuming this will be completely multiplayer focussed and have no singleplayer story like BC2. I can only dream, but it'd be great if all platforms were somehow linked together, into some massive war, using each battle to move frontlines. Sort of like Planetside.
I hope DICE still do a BC3, I really like those characters they created. -

BC2 is designed with focusing the gameplay down narrow corridors, even on the big maps your very limited on what routes you can take to wherever you want to go. You compare BC2 maps to the ones you got in BF2 and BC2 seems like a very small game with very limited options in how you move about.
That's not really a criticism of the game it makes for an intense and fun game but it's so much more limited than what you got in 1942, vietnam or bf2. -

64 players is a clusterfuck. 32 is fine. Always played BF2 on medium size 32. I'm sure we never played 64 player map size on the EG dirtbox server. Or did we? -

Registered 15 years agoIf the maps are large enough, no number of players is too many. 64 players on BC2's maps would be a joke.
With 64 players and with how the teams are made in BC2, I'm afraid we'd have games of 32 on 2 far too often. :/ -
So we're agreed then. 64 players and prone included.
Nothing else to talk about really. -

The problem is the maps seem to get less fun the bigger they are, BC2 got it right the first time IMO.

It will be the same as BF2. Expandable maps/servers, depending on the numbers, 16, 32, 64.
