phone and sim card question

    Hi,

I have recently bought a new phone, SE w595. however, I keep losing the network, sometimes it works for a while if I switch it off and on again or remove and replace the sim card.

My girlfriends phone is a bit older than mine but her sim card is much newer. If we swap sim cards then both phones seem to work perfectly.

Her sim card has a number 9 on it and is 64k, mine has a number 7 and is 32k.

The provider is China Mobile which I guess doesn't really mean anything to anyone.

Could this problem be because my sim card is too old for the phone?

I dont really know too much about phones or sim cards so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've never heard of a sim card being too old, but from your testing it certainly sounds like your new phone doesn't like your sim. I don't think there's anything special about particular operators sim cards, even China Mobile. I assume both sims are China Mobile, right?

yeah both from the same company. one other difference is that her sim card has a globe symbol on the metal bit of the sim card, mine doesn't, dunno if that is just for show though.

I guess I can try to upgrade my sim card and see if that helps.

    Cheers for the reply.

Sims can indeed be 'too old'. I had a similar issue, and it turned out my phone had an older sim card. Customer services sent me out a new one, and the problem was solved.

Verison and sprint don't use SIM cards. They are both CDMA. Except for a couple of Blackberry's that are on Verizon. Maybe its only the world edition that also has a SIM card slot? If it does, it will need to be unlocked of course.

    What?

Oh, they're pulling random shit off other forums and putting it here. Probably someone creating a backstory for a spammer.
