The Dimbleby Lecture
In the 2012 Richard Dimbleby Lecture, leading geneticist and Nobel laureate Sir Paul Nurse explores the wonder of science and how it enhances our culture and civilisation. He investigates how science can not only help solve the world's big problems, but also be harnessed to improve health and quality of life. One of Britain's most eminent scientists, Sir Paul is the president of the Royal Society and chief executive of the UK Centre for Medical Research and Innovation.

Registered 16 years agoIs that from the corona ejection that hit yesterday? Are we still likely to get extended northern lights tonight? -
That's the one.
Image taken:
I usually get my CME kicks here.
Mar. 8, 2012
Location:
Faskrudsfjordur, Iceland.
Details:
No words can describe the experience of the northern lights show tonight. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Lens: Canon 14mm f/2.8L USM II. ISO 1600, 1s exposure.
They say there's 4/10 chance of another whopper today, and that if one does erupt it'll hit earth properly.
ed. Northern lights will be much diminished.

Nice place to be on the surface of the Sun, compared to how much hotter it is further away from it.
