Next gen blow 500 quid on an adequate PC and you'll save a fortune on the games. All big release PC games are crippled to console specs these days, so you won't have to worry about upgrading the thing all the time. |

The only flaw with that plan is a 500 quid PC won't last anything like as long as any generation of console would. -
Yeah, my 200 odd quid or whatever I spent on x box has lasted me six or so.years. -

Registered 16 years agoModular though. If your PC pulls the equivalent of a RROD the odds are high a new power supply and you're good to go again. So long as your memory, processor and motherboard aren't murder/suicided in some catastrophic failure - that gets pricy. -
If you're going down the PC route you need to be pretty much over-hauling every 2/3 years. A 5/6 year old PC now is a big bag of arse. -

Yep, already read that - we'll have to wait and see. -

Not planning on upgrading mine any time soon and it's got to be creeping up to four years on it. It's a long way from a bag of arse - mind you I spent more than 500 quid on it =D -
That may be true, but for what Revan is wanting, it's really not viable.
If she wants to be able to play modern new releases for the next 6/7 years then she either buys a console once, or overhauls her PC 2/3 times, and given her lifestyle, well she isn't going to be doing that. -

Registered 16 years agoNo, you only have to beat the console specs once. No upgrading required once you have a PC that is more powerful than the console, because the games are all held back by the limitations of the consoles. -

Registered 16 years agoYeah, I just wish they'd lower the price on the console games. Eye watering, some of them. Although I think the play-it-and-trade-it mentality is stronger in the console scene so maybe that's a factor. I'm a bit of a hoarder, once played, rarely released from my hoarde. -

Exactly why for me console games are cheap. I nearly always trade in so each game might cost me a tenner.

Only games I've kept in past year or so are gears of war 3, halo 4, bf3 and max Payne 3. I must have purchased 20 or more games in that time. -

I couldn't do that. I only have to lend someone a game and instantly the desire to play it rises. -

Registered 12 years agoI used to hoard, but once I got married all of that spending frivelously business went out the window. I don't have more than 10 xbox games on the shelf, yet I've owned over 100.
Yes, I am also part of the problem. -
I used to keep games but I've not got enough time to keep playing old games.
Re frame rate, that is the thing I noticed most the other day when I played max Payne 3 on max setting on a pc. The visuals were not hugely different but the frame rate was double. -

Registered 8 years agoReplaying Bioshock now, it's even better than I remembered. The level design and attention to detail puts most games to shame, and I'm finding the story gripping even though I know what happens. I'll definitely try to play the sequel before Infinite is released, I never got around to it before. -
I love two. The good ending made me cry. . Which is a good thing.

Both games are 10/10 as is the excellent story DLC, make sure you play that as well. -
Yeah two was brilliant and I actually thought parts of it surpassed the first one. I especially liked the bit where you conrol the little sister and you see Rapture through their eyes. Was a really nice touch. Got the good ending too and was very moved. The only thing about the Bioshock games is that so far I haven't felt much connection with my character, not sure why. This may change after Minerva's Den as I'm just starting that. Infinite looks to make much more of an investment in the personaliy of the character you control so that may be a good thing, we'll see. -

Registered 6 years agoFrom that video I have decided this game is a must buy. Was a huge fan of the original, so have high hopes for this to have the same draw factor. Its just a shame I have both the steam pre-order games. -
You can always swap them for something in the Steam thread.
