Gamescom: non-German perspective

Any other non-German speakers disappointed with Gamescom? I went with my wife (we're both gamers), thinking it was an international show, so understanding stuff shouldn't be a problem. Only when we got there, everything was in German from the show guide to the game videos and the games themselves.

We'd learned "get by" stuff like how to ask for a couple of Cokes from a vendor stand, but a fluency was required which we didn't possess.

I'm not arrogant enough to suggest that everything should be in English wherever it's held, but surely an international show should cater for more than one language?

We stuck around for a couple of hours to see all the halls and then left early because we couldn't see the point in queueing for games we had no chance of understanding.

Just wondering how other non-German understanders got on.

Maybe they meant international from the pov that the games came from different places?

If they hold an international event in London do they have everything in EFIGS?
