    I've got one too... :-)

Love the OS, went from HTC Trophy to this - couple of little niggles (battery life being the main one), but overall it's gorgeous to look at and use.

Anyone intending to get a Windows 8 tablet this year? I have an ipad, but a Windows tablet is heavily tempting given the greater integration with PC, phone and Xbox and the Metro UI (which I think is vastly superior to iOS)

Maybe not this year, but definitely at some point, and for all the reasons you listed.

I'll probably just stick Win 8 on my EP121, but as much as I love the thing, it's not a particularly portable device. I've been thinking I might buy a smaller, lighter ARM-based Win 8 tablet for carting about. As long as they aren't too expensive, that is; the Asus set me back a grand.

Grr, Orange are such cocks it's unreal. My Optimus 7 has now been replaced (finally) but it turns out they signed me up to an insurance policy in the meantime, without telling me. Call centre suggests this is mandatory because the phone, at 9 months old, was out of warranty (it's not, LG confirms 12 months).

Worse still, the policy covers the *old* phone, not the new one, so if anything happens to this handset I'm now screwed!

What did they replace it with in the end? Did they dig out another Optimus from somewhere?

Apparently you can get an unlocked Nokia Lumia 710 from Vodaphone in store for £150 + £10 top.

Decent deal, same innards of the Lumia 800 minus a fancier camera and only 8GB storage. Gets good reviews too.

Yeah, they found another Optimus 7. Slightly different design to it, the buttons are a bit better and the finish is sleeker.

Aren't electronic goods covered by a 12-month warranty as standard, anyway..? Is it the Sale of Goods Act?

    *could be utterly wrong*

    EDIT
From whatconsumer: "It is a myth that certain products (electrical products for example) automatically come with a 12 month warranty."

    *is utterly wrong*

    @heyyo £59. Two year contract. £21 p/m.
@Robthehermit. Yes, got my phone. I have to be honest, it took a little while to get comfortable. And I do like the OS, slick and fast, but I can see that iOS apps get all the developer love. Apps that are availble on W7 and iOS have much more functionality on iOS. That irks a lot. But I am slowly getting used to it.

But not enough to keep it. This phone can be unlocked, so I am giving it to my brother in Uganda next month.

? In what way? None come with card slots, if that's what you mean. Not sure about Skydrive's limits though

That's what I mean, yeah. Expandable memory.

    Guess I won't be getting a W7 phone then.

I think there's a couple that do, but none of them were released here to my knowledge. The only one that comes to mind is the US-only Samsung Focus. I'm sure there were others, but I can't remember what they were. What's annoying is that over here we got stuck with the 8GB variant of the Omnia 7, whereas in Germany you can get a 16GB version.

Skydrive offers free 25GB of storage, but obviously it's not a suitable replacement for local storage.

If the Galaxy Nexus is anything to go by it looks like Android's moving to fixed-memory too

The Apollo update is supposed to bring support for SD Cards but until then storage on WP sucks indeed.

The two Lumias, 800 & 710 offer 16gb of memory. May or may not be sufficient for you guys.

Does anyone here have an economist subscription?
  • Deleted user 7 March 2012 10:21:38
    Not anymore, why?
  • Deleted user 7 March 2012 12:05:26
Well specifically I was after someone that had a win mo 7 phone and an economist sub.

I want to know if you can read the proper website when signed in so I can read it on the go.

It's a work around for the fact that there is no official economist app on it.

Once I get that sorted and Nokia release the Lumia 900 I think I may jump in. :)
