| @UncleLou it's all indie games and niche stuff. No big releases until Street Fighter 5, and even that is arguably in a pretty niche genre. Everything else is from March onwards. |

Why specifically PC smugness?
With The Witness, Rise of the Tomb Raider and XCOM 2 in the next three weeks it's surely the golden age of PC gamer smugness. -

Registered 9 years agoThe release schedule for the early months this year is much better than I can remember it being ever. Before the Summer we've got The Witness, X-Com 2, SF5, Uncharted IV, RotTR (for PC), The Division, Hitman (episode 1), Unravel, EDF 4.1, Far Cry Primal, PvZ GW2, Quantum Break, Dark Souls 3, Ratch and Clank, Total War Warhammer.
And that's just the games I'm personally interested in. -

Personally it's pretty barren for me, but that's purely down to my taste and choice of hardware than a dearth of releases. The only games I'm remotely interested in are Dark Souls 3 and Ratchet & Clank, with EDF (if it's not a full price release, which is unlikely given that it's $50 in the US), The Witness, and SFV as possibly maybes. -

Tomb Raider is hardly niche, nor Xcom, really - certainly not in the PC market. There's also the new Far Cry in Februray. A few years ago, the publication of any of these games wouldn't have happened in Jan/Feb.

And yeah, March onwards is much busier than usually.

Not that feeling smug about bloody exclusives under any context isn't a sign of a massive cunt.
Cue DB chiming in with his extra special smugness

Registered 9 years ago@SomaticSense I do love buying games!
But there's also Final Fantasy Explorers, Lego Avengers, Trails of Cold Steel, Gravity Rush (just the PS4 remake), Naruot Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Goosebumps, Bravely Second, Twilight Princess remake, Samurai Warriors 4, UFC 2, Trackmania Turbo, Nights of Azure, and porbably a bunch more PC games but I'm just reading off the Game list of upcoming games. -

Well, not that I feel particularly smug or have reason to believe neilka does, but if you were to feel smug about a platform of choice, then surely you just explained it perfectly? Some of the best games of either console on top of the PC exclusives.
The Witness is due for PS4 and TR is already on XB1. Only XCOM 2 is PC only.
I've seen many people on here radiate a lot of smugness based on one hell of a lot less.

Oh I'm really not suggesting neilka is at all smug himself. He's right, there will be plenty of smugness exuded through the forum from certain types over the next few months.
I'm just pointing it out as a stupid emotion triggered for a stupid reason, and using it as an opportunity to pre-emptively call them all cunts

Well, no. What you're trying to say is, though, that they look a bit shit/are nothing to look forward to? Well, The Witness is a bit of a mystery at this point (I think it looks interesting enough), XCOM is obviously a day-1 purchase and, well, TR is TR.

Pray tell, which game, if you were so inclined, would you feel smug about? -

Registered 6 years agoBlow tweeted there are no current plans for an X1 version, they got it rated so they wouldn't have to if/when it does come.
Guess PC for me then, or I'll just wait. Eh! -
More detail on it NOT coming to the Xbox One
:
http://www.polygon.com/2016/1/18/10786184/the-witness-xbox-one-esrb-rating
Reached for comment, Blow told Polygon that Thekla only mentioned an Xbox One version in its submission to the ESRB to avoid having to resubmit the game in the future — if the company does decide to bring The Witness to Xbox One, that is.
Edited by MrTomFTW at 19:29:50 18-01-2016
"We only put XB1 on there because it doesn't cost anything, and if we were to want to do an XB1 version later, we don't have to go through ratings again," said Blow. "But it is totally provisional, we have no plans for an XB1 version right now." -

Registered 14 years agoWhen they say "coming to other platforms later" and then rate it on ESRB, it's fairly obvious what they are actually thinking.
It may be a while before it happens though. And Blow could still change his mind, depending on how X1 digital games sales go in the meanwhile. -

This one embodies what was alluded to on the EG podcast where it was said that this may not be for everyone (although they still give it an 8!). May still have to get this as it intrigues me greatly and I need a break from Fallout. -

Registered 6 years agoHmm. Was hoping this would be totally amazing but tbh I got bored of being frustrated by Braid about 60% of the way through it... The Polygon review suggests that it's probably not going to be my thing. Sort of like the 3D game-world equivalent of one of those puzzle books that was mostly the same bunch of a dozen puzzle-types over and over again in increasing complexity, and not really anything as compelling as I'd hoped to hold it together. At £30 it's definitely too much for an impulse purchase for something I'm not excited about any more. -

Is this released for the PS4 today, no sign of it on the store. -
Nevermind found it. -
I was thinking of picking this up, but after all this time it's not what I had been expecting it to be. Don't mind a puzzler, but I think I'll check out Talos Principle before The Witness, by which time this might have come down in price some and/or got a disc release so I can rent it.
