@Widge - Sounds good, just don't bother upgrading the drake sword, its ok for an early weapon, but look to upgrading something else, the drake sword doesnt last till the end of the game.

Registered 10 years ago@quadfather If "Int" was to me, then, sadly, no. Only 12 Int (28 End, 40 Dex, though) so he doesn't have much to say to me at the moment 
I've just got back to AL, and I'm doing my usual soul circuit to grab a few more twinkly bits. Also need chunks, but they're much harder to get here. -

Registered 8 years agoUpgrade things in different ways. So for example, red stuff will help with Fire and Chaos
Whereas white will do divine and occult
blue = magic + enchanted
and so on
When you've got some of each colour, check with the different blacksmiths to see what you could upgrade your weapon to. And blacksmiths differ in their ability - Andre only does a couple of paths, so you have to visit a different blacksmith for certain paths -

Registered 8 years agoThe thing about elemtlental upgrades though is that they remove the stat scaling. So while they look meaty, not much matches a +15 normal weapon with the required scaling stat pumped up to 40 + a buff like crystal magic weapon. Thats just destruction on a plate
But elemental weapon can decimate stuff too, especially if the enemies youre fighting are prone to the elemental damage -

Registered 10 years agoAs you may recall, I regretted changing my BSS +10 to Lightning, and have now reversed it.
It was great in some of the earlier areas, but massively reduced my damage against the knights of AL.
I have another one, completely unimproved, which I might change to Fire when I have the ability to do so. Already have a Divine Iaito which I'm hoping will be useful later -
