iso performance is truly excellent compared to my other cameras. Still really unhappy about the lag though. I can just about live with the crappy menus, but that lag... I might as well just use my iPhone's camera...
So did you return it or hang on to it in the hope the firmware upgrade will improve things?
Yeah. Not using them again.
Anyway, so I thought I'd persevere for a bit, play around with settings, see if different autofocus modes, manual exposure, etc would make any difference. It doesn't. Always a small lag between pressing the shutter release and the shutter actuation. I somehow doubt that firmware will fix it, I guess I'll have to sell it on as second-hand and take a hit for being stupid enough not to buy it at John Lewis. -

No - do you know him? I gave him my e-mail but he never got in touch. -

Indeed, shutter lag is terrible if you want spontaneous street shots. On top of everything that clown Ken Rockwell is praising it now.
Sony hurry up and announce the specs for NEX-7, same goes for Olys next PEN! -

When weighing up the options I looked at these, mainly because of the sensor size. The lens selection is terrible though, they weren't wrong when they said the system isn't aimed at DSLR owners as a compact second body. A shame really, as the bodies look fantastic. -

Registered 12 years agoNEX bodies are so small now they look ridiculous with a lens on, and Pana have fucked up the GF3 too, tiny with all touch screen controls

All I want is a pancake prime between 30 and 50mm full frame (ideally around 40) and I'll be set. I hope the fact that more professional film cameras use the NEX mount means more alternatives will appear.
I know they've been talking about Zeiss lenses but they will most likely be stupidly expensive. -

Registered 17 years agoI had a go with the X100 today. Felt nice, looked nice, thought it was a bit shit though. All we need is a reasonably affordable ,digital, retro styled, genuine rangefinder. They would sell like very hot cakes. -
Have you guys got any good ideas for where I might find a buyer for my X100? I'm not a fan of ebay. -

Registered 12 years agoMust admit I don't get the appeal of a rangefinder at all. -
Compact, simple and lightweight bodies and lenses and instant shutter speeds (which Fuji has failed to deliver) is why people want them.
A small detail I like is the wider angle for the viewfinder view, giving you a cue to how to time your shot. -

Registered 20 years agoFocusing with a rangefinder is a distinct art though, and something people might not get straightaway. TBH contrast detect AF doesn't take up any space and is getting quick enough for most uses. Currently you only get really good quick contrast detect AF in more expensive cameras with beefy processors, but that will change quickly enough. -

Think I might have found a buyer, if it falls through, I'm looking for £900 plus shipping. Think that's a pretty good deal for the buyer (leather case thrown in). My loss works out at about 50p per shot I've taken with it.

Registered 18 years agoOk then. I'm not really sure if I should get one anyway. Cheapest way now is to get one from the states. Works out to about £735 if you know someone who's gong there. -

Registered 20 years agoSo, Fuji seem to be supporting this camera with actual new firmware that actually fixes some of the gripes people have with it.
I can't quite tell what they've changed and how important it is, partly due to me never having used an X100, and partly because the news is partially in Engrish. Looks to be quite a big update though. -

Still haven't sold the bugger. I thought it was in demand?? Can't wait to get rid of the damn thing. I've not tried installing the new firmware but from everything I've read it isn't going to do a thing to fix my issues.
