It's great to hear that you're okay, KTM.

You'll be treated like royalty at the upcoming EG meet. :)

I feel like a cunt telling you this, not being in your situation - but try to keep your spirits up, KTM. Try to find something redeeming about the present. I'm just a bit worried that if your mind is too much back here or on the future, you'll get distracted, you know what I mean?

I admire quite a bit of what you post on here MD, but that is one of the best posts I've seen for a while.

Your situation seems so surreal to me I can't even conceive of it. Which is probably for the best TBH. Get home safe. All the best KTM.

It really sickens me how the government can treat the armed forces the way they do and generally be so utterly incompetent in every respect whether it be procurement, deciding what to cut, etc. I could certainly never do what you do, and one of the many reasons why would be that having the Taliban as an enemy is bad enough without having your own government act like an enemy too.

Good luck man, and stay strong.

This was written by one of the lads and I wanted to share it.

Blue Wings

On my arm I wear Blue Wings.
It's no big deal in the shape of things.

It doesn't pay the mortgage or the rent.
Outside,as civilians, of no consequence.

It's just a Badge; tailor made,
That shows we're part of this brigade.

As much a uniform, like a tie,
to those who look with uneducated eyes.

But those who wear it, their hearts will break.
For one day, inevitably, our wings they will take.

They say it's outdated, we've run our course.
No longer in need of our Airborne force.

Our brothers who wore it stood in the door,
and stepped in to Arnhem in the Great War.

Ireland. The Falklands. Tour after tour.
We've given our all but still they want more.

The Sons of St. Micheal. The Men in Maroon.
They answered the call and jumped to their doom.

The Badge stands for courage and honour as well.
It's paved in maroon; the dark road to Hell.

The Beret is peaked, shaped and proud.
Our smocks are aggressive, they've been through the clouds.

The men who wear them have seen bigger things...

...for on their arms they wear Blue Wings.

AIRBORNE.

Love you long time.

Very moving. I'm ex service (RN) myself although that was many many years ago and I didn't stay in the mob long, nor did I see active service. I understand on a very small scale the sentiments. Keep up the excellent work.

Hello! I'm home. Thanks for your support guys and girls. I haven't posted anything significant in this thread for quite some time as by the time I had access to the Internet again I was sick of the whole thing.

I don't want to say anything further on here about my time away. There are too many dead men and too many men missing body parts. I can't explain how I feel about it very articulately and it's a cliche but if you weren't there you'd never understand what it's like.

I have 2 questions.

1. Can I buy final fantasy tactics iPhone yet?
2. Is the piss up still on in London in April?

Love you long time.
