Awesome work to all that have linked pics in here, I love looking over other peoples paintings. If I hadn't lost all my paints a number of months ago I'd be getting on with a squad of Tau I found in an old shoe box under my bed recently. Bit of a daunting (and expensive) thought to have to build up a paint collection from the very start again. |

Registered 12 years agoSurprisingly lucky in that regard, in that my decade old collection of paint had survived almost intact. The old pop pots from the first/second ranges are in remarkably good nick, but all the black screw tops (third ?) are dried out, probably why they've reverted to pops for the last rejig.
Aside from the tenner on some white, glue and new brushes, I haven't spent anything else. I'm sticking to this. -

Registered 9 years agoI've just joined a war gaming group recently and while 40k is the order of the day we're talking about getting into fantasy as well. My question is: which army would is better at the moment, dark elves or lizard men? I'm used to grey knights in 40k if that helps.
My first choice would have been chaos warriors but someone's already claimed them. -

Registered 11 years agoChaos Warriors have some very shiny stuff about to hit, if that helps.
Both Dark Elves and Lizardmen can be pretty dirty if needs must, probably with Lizardmen edging it thanks to some of the Slann setups. The money is on Lizardmen getting updated this year at some point*, so that might change mind - seems that GW are trying to clamp down on some of the more powerful 7th Edition armies.
* Warriors, Daemons, High Elves, Lizardmen is the current thinking -

Registered 9 years agoCheers! Lizard men used to be badass when the fist came out, I just figured they'd have been nurfed by now. Thinking about it I'll go with the lizard men, that advice and still having some plastics lying about from my teens has swayed me. -

Lizardmen in 8th have been very dirty but this is primarily due to 7th edition magic items and abilities for slann. They are the masters of the magic phase, Slann Mage preists are like missile silos and can pretty much shut down any offensive magic phase. Lizardmen infantry is tough and reliable and they have nice big beasts for shock damage output. They are defiantly one of the better armies at the moment
I have not played against dark elves myself I play Warriors of Chaos(4000pts),Deamons(2000pts) and Orcs and Goblins(1500pts). -

Registered 11 years agoI play in SW London near Wandsworth. A little club which has the function room of a pub with a few tables and a decent selection of games (Fantasy, 40k, Warmahordes, Descent, X-Wing etc). -

Registered 13 years agoIn theory, I play in Warhammer World which is amazing, but I don't play at all anymore. I always get the feeling that moving from just painting to playing would be the tipping point towards divorce. -

I'll never attain that standard. Definitely an army painter, nae a showcaser. 10 jumppacks are enough hassle just now. -
Hammer's excellent, really nice power weapon effect and nmm.
